En estos meses, invierno-primavera de 2011, estamos asistiendo, entre esperanzad@s y sorprendid@s, a uno de los cambios sociales mas trascen-dentes de los ultimos tiempos. El movimiento ciudadano contra regimenes autoritarios y por la igualdad y la justicia en los paises del norte de Africa, nos revela, una vez mas, el poder de las voces individuales, la importan-cia de las redes de personas y de la democratizacion de los canales de comunicacion, en la lucha por los derechos humanos y la libertad.

En CINEPOSIBLE, sentimos que nuestra pequena gran ventana al mundo tiene hoy mas sentido que nunca. Quienes vivimos esta aventura desde el centro de su corazon azul, disfrutamos cada dia mas de la calidad y diver-sidad de las peliculas exhibidas, y del entusiasmo y generosidad de l@s director@s y productor@s que nos visitan. Y estamos deseando compartirlo contigo.

CINEPOSIBLE te invita a un viaje por realidades lejanas geograficamente pero intensamente conectadas entre si. De la mano de sus cineastas, vo-laremos de Mozambique a Brasil, de China a Uganda, de Iran a Colombia, de Etiopia a Pakistan...

CINEPOSIBLE te ofrece, ademas, un foro unico para la cooperacion cultu-ral, un espacio donde encontrar aliados para tus proyectos, estimulo para tus suenos, un lugar para compartir tus inquietudes sociales y creativas, y donde ofrecer apoyo a aventuras ajenas, un escenario multicultural para reir y disfrutar, cuestionar dogmas, debatir sobre el papel del cine y la comunicacion en los movimientos de transformacion social, para crear re-des de cooperantes y cineastas, escuchar y aprender...

HERE AND NOW.

This winter-spring 2011 we are witnessing, with hope and surprise, one of the most important social changes in recent years. The people’s movement against authoritarian regimes and for equality and justice in countries in the North of Africa shows us, once again, the power of individual voices and the importance of people networks and the democratisation of the channels of communication in the fight for human rights and freedom.

At CINEPOSIBLE we feel that our small big window on the world has more meaning today than ever. Those who live this adventure from the bottom of our blue heart enjoy more and more the quality and diversity of the films shown, and the enthusiasm and generosity of the directors and producers who visit us. And we want to share it with you.

CINEPOSIBLE invites you on a journey through realities that are geographi-cally distant but strongly connected to each other. From the hand of their film makers, we will fly from Mozambique to Brazil, from China to Uganda, from Iran to Colombia, from Ethiopia to Pakistan...

CINEPOSIBLE also offers a unique forum for cultural cooperation, a space in which to find allies for your projects, stimulus for your dreams, a place to share your social and creative concerns, and to offer your support to other people’s ventures, a multicultural setting in which to laugh and have fun, question dogmas, debate the role of film and communication in the move-ments of social change, create networks of co-operators and film makers, listen and learn... La inauguracion oficial de la cuarta edicion de Cineposible estara conducida por el actor Santi Senso que contara con el acompanamiento musical del Coro Amadeus de Puebla de la Calzada. Durante el acto se proyectaran “Preguntale a E.L.I.S.A.” de Alvaro Aldana (Documental. 29 minutos. Colombia) y “Meninos de parte nenhuma” [Ninos de ninguna parte] de Isabel Noronha y Vivian Altman (Ficcion. 29 minutos. Mozambique), los dos proyectos que el ano pasado se alzaron con los premios Proyectos del Sur que otorga el festival.

Durante el acto de inauguracion tambien se entregaran los Premios a los Proyectos del Sur ganadores de Cineposible 2011.

*Contaremos con la presencia de Isabel Noronha y Vivian Altman.

En casa de juliana no hay nada para comer. La nina con su hermanita se dirige al comedor comunitario con la esperanza de almorzar, pero como no estan inscri-tas, deben esperar a que alguno de los ninos anota-dos no asista, y asi tomar su lugar. Lautaro es uno de ellos y Juliana, quien lo co-noce, decide retrasarlo en el camino para que llegue tarde y su hermana pueda almorzar.

At Juliana’s home there is nothing to eat. The girl and her younger sister decide to go to the community dining room hoping to have lunch, but they are not members of the lunch program. Their only hope to get a lunch is to wait for a non show. Lautaro is a member of the lunch program, so Juliana who sees him on his way to get lunch decides to trick him in order to get at least a meal for her little sister.

Entre el campo y la ciu-dad se desarrollan las formas sutiles de escla-vitud moderna. Una nina abandona la montana para esperar en el bor-de de la carretera a la camioneta que la lleva-ra a la ciudad. Una vez alli, las voces de los ni-nos la rodean y Carmen se asoma a la entrada de una escuela. Estas ninas, en fila y de uni-forme, no son las que Carmen va a conocer.

Between the city and the country, the subtle modern forms of slavery unfold. A girl disappears down the mountain to wait at the edge of the highway for the pick-up truck that will transport her to the city. Once there, children’s voices surround her and Car-men peeks into the en-trance to a school. Li-ned up and in uniform, those girls are not the ones Carmen will join.

Mujeres en Guinea-Bissau es una conversacion sobre mujeres que da voz a los derechos, esperanzas y suenos de estas. En 19 minutos, mujeres de todas edades, proceden-cias y profesiones hablan en primera persona de su papel en la sociedad, el desarrollo y la paz de Guinea, de sus expectativas y experiencias, pero tambien de los problemas que la comunidad guineana conoce bien, como las desigualdades, las injus-ticias, la violencia y la mutilacion genital, entre otros .Un documental grabado entre Bissau, las Islas Bi-jagos y Lisboa, donde 22 mujeres comparten la palabra y muestran al mundo a esta mujer africana, con sus historias de lucha, supervivencia y esperanza.

Women in Guinea-Bissau is a con-versation of women, giving voice to their rights, hopes and dreams. In 19 minutes, women of all ages, bac-kgrounds and professions speak in first person from his role in Guinean society, development and peace, their expectations and experiences, but also of inequalities and injusti-ces, violence and female genital mu-tilation, among other problems that the community knows well Guinean. A documentary recorded between Bissau, Bijagos Islands and Lisbon, where 22 women share the word and show the world who is this African woman, their stories of struggle, sur-vival and hope.

La educacion es un dere-cho, pero la realidad en la que vivimos hace que para muchos ninos sea solo un sueno. “La escuela de la calle” cuenta la vida del centro educativo Isauro Arancibia, la unica escuela para los mas de tres mil ni-nos en situacion de calle de la ciudad de Buenos Aires. Dia tras dia, estos ninos lu-chan para poder sobrevivir y dejan todo con tal de cum-plir su sueno mas preciado: ir a la escuela.

Education is a right, but the reality we live in makes it only a dream for many chil-dren. “The street school” tells the life of Isauro Arancibia education cen-tre, the only school for the over three thousand street children in the city of Bue-nos Aires. Day after day, these children fight to be able to survive and give up everything to fulfil their most cherished dream: to go to school.

Un nino sin hogar, Abush, se despierta con hambre por la manana en un peque-no pueblo. Enfrente de don-de el esta durmiendo, hay una tienda de pan. Abush huele el pan fresco, pero no tiene dinero. Abush empie-za a pedir dinero para com-prar pan, pero nadie le hace caso. Al mismo tiempo, los aldeanos estan ocupados preparandose para el even-to de plantacion de arboles que tendra lugar esa tarde.

A small homeless boy, Abush, wakes up hungry early in the morning in a small village. In front of where he is sleeping, the-re is a bread shop. Abush smells fresh bread but does not have any money. Abush starts to beg for money to buy bread but no one pays him any attention. At the same time the villagers are busy preparing for the tree-planting event that afterno-on.

Mientras intenta demostrar su valor, Mwansa hace algo imperdonable: rompe acci-dentalmente el muneco de barro especial de su herma-na mayor, Shula. Entonces emprende una busqueda con la intencion no solo de arreglarlo, sino de demos-trar finalmente que el es “Mwansa el Grande”.

While prove he is a hero Mwansa does the unforgiva-ble and accidentally breaks his big sister Shula’s spe-cial mud doll. He goes on a quest to not only to fix it, but to finally prove he is ‘Mwansa the Great’.

La ONU estima la poblacion mundial de ninos de calle en 150 millones. En Lati-noamerica, son 40 millo-nes. En Brasil, un grupo se siente tan atraido por una camara que la toma como propia para contar sus his-torias.

The UN estimates the po-pulation of street children worldwide at 150 million. In Latin America, they are 40 million. In Brazil, street kids, felt so enchanted by a camera that they took it as their own to express them-selves.

Noelia es una madre sol-tera que vive en el barrio de asentamiento Marchet-ti, en Mercedes, provincia de Buenos Aires. Motivada por sus tres hijos, Ornella, Facundo e Ismael, trata de mejorar la situacion socio-economica en la que se encuentra inserta. Al igual que muchas otras mujeres se las ingenia para sobrevi-vir con un subsidio nacional insuficiente.

Noelia is a single mum who lives in the shanty town Marchetti, in Mercedes, in the province of Buenos Ai-res. Motivated by her three children, Ornella, Facundo and Ismael, she tries to im-prove the socio-economic situation she is in. Like many other women she has to make do with insufficient national benefits to survive.

Tasnim, una nina fuerte y testaruda de 10 anos, vive con su madre y hermanos en un olvidado pueblo de beduinos en el Negev. Una visita sorpresa de su padre en el pueblo le obliga, por primera vez en su vida, a enfrentarse a las normas conservadoras de la tribu de la familia y al hecho de que ella ya no es una nina de papa.

Tasnim, a strong and opi-nionated 10-year-old, lives with her mother and si-blings in a neglected Bedo-uin village in the Negev. A surprise visit from her father in the village forces her, for the first time in her life, to confront the conservative norms of the family tribe and the fact that she is no longer daddy’s-little-girl.

“Un arma peligrosa” es una pelicula sobre los derechos de a mujer, basada en un texto del escritor Eduardo Galeano, que lleva el mis-mo titulo. La pelicula nos “habla” del ritual del corte del clitoris que se realiza a ninas en mas de treinta pai-ses en el mundo.

“A dangerous weapon” is a film about women’s rights, based on a text of the same name by the writer Eduardo Galeano. The film “tells” us about the ritual of female circumcision that is carried out on girls in over thirty countries in the world.

In a close-knit fishing village, vibrant with fish trade, Zebu, a witty ten-year old is forced to grow up and take responsibility of taking his fa-mily out of debt.

PROYECCIÓN ESPECIAL CON MOTIVO DEL DIA DE LA MUJER Martes 8 de marzo | 19h30 | La Casa de Cultura de Santiago del Campo (Caceres) El Festival Internacional Cineposible de Extremadura ofrece la proyeccion de documentales y cortometrajes que han formado parte en anteriores ediciones de la seccion oficial de Cineposible y que estan relacionados con el Objetivo del Milenio 3 de Naciones Unidas: Promover la igualdad entre generos y la autonomia de la mujer.

CAMPUS CINEPOSIBLE Miercoles 30 de marzo a domingo 3 de abril | Teatro Carolina Coronado | Almendralejo Organizado por el Festival Internacional Cineposible de Extremadura, el Campus Cineposible 2011 es una convivencia con las y los directores de cine provenientes de los paises del sur y una accion destinada a in-corporar la observacion-reflexion- accion de los y las participantes a la dinamica global del Festival. Las/os estudiantes podran intercambiar opiniones y conocer las vivencias de las/os cineastas que participan en el Festival, asi como participar en los diferentes talleres, debates, proyecciones y resto de actividades que se realicen durante la celebracion del mismo.

CAMPUS CINEPOSIBLE Wednesday 30 March to Sunday 3 April | Teatro Carolina Coronado | Almendralejo Organised by Cineposible International Festival of Extremadura, Campus Cineposible 2011 is a gathering with the film directors from Southern countries and an action aimed at incorporating the observation-reflec-tion-action of participants within the Festival’s overall dynamic. Students will be able to share opinions and find out about the lives of the film makers who are participating in the Festival, and can also take part in the various workshops, debates, screenings and other activities taking place during it.

TALLER ‘COMIDAS DEL MUNDO’ Jueves 31 de marzo | Almendralejo Tercera edicion de un taller de elaboracion de comidas del mundo realizado por la/os propia/os vecina/os de la barriada de San Jose. Hombres y mujeres inmigrantes y espanoles prepararan una serie de platos tipicos de distintos paises que seran degustados conjuntamente por las/os participantes en el taller y las/os directo-ras/es que estan participando en el Campus Cineposible 2011. En colaboracion con la Fundacion Ruy Lopez y con la Asociacion de Vecinos San Jose de Almendralejo.



WORKSHOP ‘WORLD CUISINE’ Thursday 31 March | Almendralejo This is the third year this workshop on cooking world cuisine has been held, carried out by the residents of the district of San Jose. Immigrant and Spanish men and women will prepare typical dishes of various countries which will be sampled by the workshop participants and the directors participating in Campus Cineposible 2011. In collaboration with the Ruy Lopez Foundation and San Jose de Almendralejo Residents’ Association.

JURADO DE PROYECTOSMaite Ruiz de Austri es es una escritora, guionista y direc-tora de cine y television espanola, especializada en pro-gramas para ninos y jovenes. Es la unica mujer directora de largometrajes de animacion del cine espanol. Hasta el momenta ha dirigido cinco peliculas y una serie para television. Goya al mejor pelicula de animacion por El re-greso del viento del norte (1995) y por Que vecinos tan animales! (1999), dos medallas de Oro en The Houston International Film Festival y medalla de plata y medalla de bronce en The New York TV Festival.

Antonio Fuentes es el Coordinador General de Cooperacion de la Agencia Extremena de Cooperacion Internacional para el Desarrollo (AEXCID), entidad financiadora y organi-zadora del Festival Cineposible de Extremadura.

Andrea Guzman nacida en Madrid, de origen chileno, ha crecido y estudiado en La Habana. Licenciada en Inge-nieria Informatica y diplomada en Cine en la EICTV. Ha trabajado en el equipo de fotografia y camara, por mas de 12 anos. Se ha formado en el campo de documental de la mano de Patricio Guzman. Desde 2005 trabaja en Documenta Madrid. Ha formado parte del equipo de varios festivales de cine: FIDOCS, Miradas Doc, Festival de Mala-ga, Vivamerica. Ha sido jurado de proyectos para Canarias Cultura en Red y de la seccion oficial de documentales en la Mostra de Cine Latinoamericano de Lleida. En 2007, funda Docma - Asociacion de Cine Documental, creada con los objetivos de difundir este cine y apoyar la creacion y formacion en torno al documental en Espana.
