Пасха – це найбільший і найрадісніший празник у літургічному календарі, празник сповнений радості. Однак, цікаво відзначити, що свято Пасхи починається із смутку та порожнечі.

Євангелисти, розповідаючи історію Пасхи, починають не з радості Воскресіння, а із смутку через віднайдення порожнього гробу. Марія Магдалина та інші жінки, оплакуючи і сумуючи, рано-вранці приходять, до гробу Ісуса, щоб намастити тіло улюбленого вчителя. Однак, замість тіла Ісуса, вони виявили порожній гріб. Вони з жахом думають, що хтось незрозуміло викрав тіло! Та згодом, вони чують сповіщення ангела про Христове Воскресіння: «Нема його тут, бо воскрес, як ото сам прорік. Ходіть, гляньте на місце, де він лежав». (Мт. 28, 6) Після цього вони зустрічаються з воскреслим Христом і обіймають його: "Аж ось Ісус зустрів їх ......ті підійшли й кинулися йому в ноги і вклонилися." (Мт. 28:9) Тільки тоді, вони отримують від Ісуса своє доручення: "Не бійтеся; ідіть і сповістіть моїх братів, щоб ішли назад у Галилею: там

мене побачать». (Мт. 28:10). Спершу настає порожнеча, потім настає сповнення.

CHRIST IS RISEN! INDEED HE IS RISEN!

Pascha is the greatest and most joyful feast in the liturgical calendar, a feast of over-flowing happiness. It is interesting to note however, that the Feast of Pascha begins with sorrow and emptiness. The Evangelists, in their telling of the story of Pascha, begin, not with the joy of the Resurrection, but with the sadness of the emp-ty tomb. Mary Magdalene and the other women come, lamenting and sorrowful, early in the morning, to the grave of Jesus in order to anoint the body of their beloved teacher. Instead of Jesus’ body, however, they discover an empty tomb. Horrified, they think that someone has inexplicably stolen the body! Only then, do they hear the angel’s announce-ment of Christ’s Resurrection: “He is not here for he has risen, as he said he would. Come and see the place where he lay.” (Mt. 28:6) Only then do they encounter the risen Christ and embrace him: “And suddenly, coming to meet them was Jesus….and the women came up to him and, clasping his feet, did him hom-age” (Mt. 28:9) Only then, do they receive their commission from Jesus: “Do not be afraid; go and tell my brothers that they must leave for Galilee; there they will see me.” (Mt. 28:10) First comes emptiness, then comes

Спочатку приходить смуток, а згодом приходить радість. Спершу приходить смерть, а потім - життя. Пасха починається нічим, а завершується усім!

Роздумуючи над цим, ми можемо сказати, що у житті кожного з нас є частково відображення Пасхальної історії. Подібно до того, як Пасха починається з порожнечі, так і наше життя починається з порожнечі. Перед тим, ніж зробити перший подих, ми покликані залишити затишне материнське лоно. Згодом щодня у своєму житті, коли робимо крок вперед, ми покликані очистити себе і залишати щось позаду. Перш, ніж взяти на себе свої подружні обов’язки, ми покликані залишити свою незалежність. Перш, ніж відповісти на духовний поклик чи обрати кар’єру, ми покликані відмовитись від інших можливостей. На кожному кроці життя, для того, щоб отримати нове життя, ми покликані очистити себе та звільнити. Подібно є і в нашому духовному житті.

Порожнеча – це частина людського пережиття. Іноді це можна сприймати як біль, але також як і подарунок. Кожен з нас потребує тієї внутрішньої порожнечі: тобто такого простору, який створює місце для чогось нового, простору, який можна відкрити для Бога.

Саме тому під час Великого посту, який щойно завершився, Церква у своїй мудрості попросила нас звільнитися від гріхів, спокус та щоденних клопотів, які забруднюють наше життя. Чому? Саме для того, щоб звільнити місце для Христа, який сьогодні тріумфально воскрес із гробу і наповнив нашу духовну порожнечу запевненням, що своїм Воскресінням він дарує кожному з нас обіцянку вічного життя!

Наше молитовне побажання сьогодні усім та кожному з вас, у цей славний празник Пасхи, полягає в тому, щоб невимовна і незрівнянна радість Воскресіння Господа з гробу наповнила наші серця і душі. Нехай ця радість заповнить кожну порожнечу всередині нас, нехай знищить весь біль і страх та переможе всі сумніви і спокуси, залишаючись з нами назавжди! Наслідуймо приклад святих жінок, які того першого

fulfillment. First comes sorrow, then comes joy. First comes death, then comes life. Pascha begins with nothing and ends with everything! When we think about it, we can say that there is a tiny reflection of the Paschal story in each of our lives. Just as Pascha begins with emptiness so do our lives begin with emptiness. Before we take our first breath, we are called to leave the comfort of our mother’s womb. And every day afterward in our life, every time we take a step forward, we are called to empty ourselves and leave something behind. Before we make a commitment to our spouse in marriage, we are called to let go of our independence. Before we respond to a vocation call or make a career choice, we are called to let go of other opportunities. At every step of life, in order to receive new life, we are called to empty ourselves in some way. And so it is in our spiritual life as well.

Emptiness is part of the human experience. Sometimes it can be seen as pain, yet it can also be treated as a gift. We each need that emptiness in ourselves: that space that makes room for something new, that space that can be opened to God. This is why during the time of Great Lent, which has just passed, the Church in her wisdom, has asked us to empty ourselves of the sins, temptations and daily preoccupations that clutter up our lives. Why? In order to make room for Christ who rises triumphantly from the tomb today and fills our spiritual emptiness with the promise that his Resurrection brings each of us - the promise of eternal life! Our prayerful wish for each of you today on this glorious Feast of Pascha is that the indescribable and incomparable joy of Our Lord’s Resurrection from the tomb, fill our hearts and souls. May this joy fill every emptiness within us, wipe away all pain and fear, conquer every doubt and temptation, and remain with us forever! Let us take our example from the holy women who visited the tomb early on that first Easter morning. Let us embrace the Risen Christ who comes to fill our emptiness and let us with confidence and in the sureness of our faith, in word and deed, spread the Good News of his Resurrection in our world!

We have a 12” Walnut Torte Available for Auc-tion. Minimum bid is $40. Bids accepted via e-mail to stconstantineucc@gmail.com. Please include your name, phone number, and bid amount. We are currently looking into platforms for online and/or recurring donations and hope to make announcements soon. We rely on your weekly collections to operate our church. We are eagerly awaiting the day when we can all return to worship together!
