Questions
The Putney Embankment Foreshore site is on the southern bank of the River Thames.
There are two sites, one of which has been built: a temporary slipway to maintain public access to the River Thames.
The next phase is at our main construction site, which will be used to intercept the Putney Bridge combined sewer overflow.

Summer works
Prior to the start of our main works, we will need to complete some site investigation and enabling works on site.
These works will include the following:
• Site Investigation – Core and Reinstatement works
• UXO and Archaeological Investigations
• Highways and Site setup works
Start of main works
From late July we will start our site set up in preparation for our main works.
These works will include:
• A two week road closure from entrance to Putney Embankment off Lower Richmond Road up to the passageway between Thai Square and Star & Garter pub. The Temporary Slipway will be opened and the Putney Slipway will be closed
• Installation of new temporary footpath parallel to Thai Square on the southern side of the road
• Diverting eastbound cyclists along Thames Place and into Lower Richmond Road
Start of main works - continued
• Setup of site boundary, including welfare cabins and hoardings
• Installation of access gate across slipway – slipway will then be closed
• Piling works to start in September
• Levelling of river beds

Pre-condition surveys
• BMB will be sending out letters to property owners and tenants to detail the pre-condition photographic survey process
• Surveys will be of individual properties and communal areas, which will then be reported
• Surveys will be undertaken by independent surveyors
• The current programme is to complete the pre-condition surveys by September 2017
• Photographic surveys only to identify, and report on, visible defects and their extent
Lessons Learned
We are always looking to improve and ensure that we minimise any disruption to the local community.
The following slides will detail how we will respond to address some of the concerns found with the construction of the Temporary Slipway, based upon the primary areas of concern:
• Parking
• Barge/River movements
• Community consideration
Parking
• Removal of seven parking bays, as permitted in the DCO
• Ongoing liaison with London Borough of Wandsworth to minimise disruption to local residents
Barge/River Movements
• A daily average of 5 lorry visits per day over course of works
• Highest average daily peak in a month reduced to 10 lorry visits per day, compared with 20 estimated in the DCO
• Change to overall works method, using larger barges, will result in fewer barge movements on the river
• Each barge movement equates to approximately 40 HGV’s removed from the local road network

The Process
The open call received 24 applications – 50% of which were from artists based in Wandsworth or Richmond upon Thames.
Following evaluation against the initial selection criteria, the three shortlisted artists visited the site prior to developing their proposals.
The selection panel was held on 9 June. A representative from the Community Liaison Working Group (CLWG) participated, along with representatives from Tideway and BMB (the Main Works Contractor) and Enable / London Borough of Wandsworth.

The Proposal
Artist Amy Pennington is proposing ‘14 days of washing up’ in response to the brief specifically working with local community groups to create conversation, work, explore, and be creative with each other looking at the local heritage – involving local specialists.
This will be via mudlarking, drawing and researching finds, workshops with various groups, and drop in events… With the artist spending 14 days on the site. The exact methodology/timescale to be agreed with the artist.
