polls were to be replicatedin the next Lok Sabha elec-tions, the BJP would face aneven gloomier scenario, win-ning just two of the states28 seats. The Congress wouldwin 22 and the JD(S) theremaining four.

cluding a Quran and a prayermat that he used in Kot Bhal-wal jail.

The two deaths have pro-

mpted demands for more hum-ane treatment and even repa-triation of Indians in Pakista-ni jails and Pakistani citizensin Indian prisons. The attackon Sanaullah came despite thehome ministrys orders to jailwardens to sequester Pakista-ni prisoners.
