Sumati Prints Pvt. Ltd. Is a printing and dyeing mill

located in Pandesara GIDC. They mainly manufacture sarees and dress

materials. Their end-users are the wholesaler. Sumati follows the intermittent

production system, where the products are manufactured as per the needs of

the buyers. Also they follow Batch- Processing System where a particular type

of design is prepared for certain period of time and when they need to change

the design they just change the tray they used to do the design and hence

start making their new design. Hence there is a very large product mix offered

to buyers and it does not change from buyer to buyer.

They follow step by step to finally produce their product. The process is as follow:-

1. Receiving of Grey material:-The process starts with receiving of grey as a raw material. There are various

types of grey which includes renial, Russian, 60 gram, daani, laser, sofia etc.

Manufacturing Process of Sumati Prints Pvt. Ltd.

This grey is than send for stitching purpose. After grey is stitched it is than

send for the next stage.

2. Drum Machine:- The stitched grey material is then transferred to drum

machine where it is washed. It is washed at 130° temperature for 2 hours.

Once washed it is than send to third stage.

3. Jet Dyeing:- After the grey material is washed it is then transferred to Jet

Dyeing machine. Here the washed grey clothes are whitened. Weight

Reduction of grey clothes is also done in this stage.

4. Centre Machine:-

Till these stage the raw material i.e. grey cloth is in wet form. In

centre machine these wet grey cloth is ironed at 180° temperature to make it

dry. Even the defect in the grey material can be known in these stage.

5. Printing Machine:- Here the cloth is printed as per the need and desire of the buyer. Colours

are applied as per there need. Some modifications are to be done as the

printing designs changes. These changes can be done in the tray they use for

designing.

6. Loop Machine:- These printed cloth is then send to the loop machine. Here the

cloth is heated so that the colour is retained in the cloth.

7. Washing:- After the processing in loop machine is done it is then moved for

washing purpose. Here the processing is done first in hot water than with cold

water. By washing with hot water the extra colour from the cloth removes and

then finally it is washed with cold water, so that it becomes easy for the

labours to lift the final product.

8. Final Ironing:-The washed cloth is given for final ironing, and hence it is moved to the centre

machine. The finished cloth is ironed at 175° temperature.

9. Zero Machine:- The ironed finished cloth is sent to the zero machine where the

cloth is softened. From here the cloth is then moved to the folding machine.

10.Folding Machine:- The cloth is folded over here and then it is dispatched to the buyer.

Boilers:-

Boilers are the root or the heart of entire organisation. They are the one

which provide temperature to each and every machine. If there is any problem

with the boilers the entire working of the organisation stops.

Quality Standards of Raw Materials and Finished goods:-

For quality assurance of Grey material, they are first tested in

laboratory. The one which are approved are then sent to the organisation.

After grey material is received Sumati checks its weight for due confirmation.

For finished products the defects can be known during ironing stage

(centre machine) as if there is any defect in the cloth the heat passes through

the cloth and can be observed and hence can be removed. For overlapping of

designs it is checked through manual observation (human labour) and hence

defective piece is removed from further processing.
