From Business Silos to Business ecosystems
80 % of the data that companies need to run their supply chain is located outside company walls, locked up in partner systems
Businesses are moving beyond traditional industry silos and coalescing into richly networked ecosystems, creating new opportunities for enterprises.

In Austria over 5.000 public entities are now able to receive eInvoices through the PEPPOL network.
In Norway alone, 38.000 public and private sector recipients registered in 2015. And more than 6.9 million transactions using PEPPOL solutions.
The eProcurement strategy of the National Health Service (NHS) in England mandates PEPPOL use for e-ordering, e-invoicing and e-advanced shipping notes. As part of the PEPPOL implementation, NHS is about to become a PEPPOL Authority.
In Belgium, the Federal Public Service for Information and Communication Technology - FEDICT, has become a PEPPOL Authority.
The member base and spread outside Europe indicates a global potential among both multinational/global companies as well as local start-ups. So far two Norwegian SME/start-up companies basing their service offerings to a large extent on PEPPOL results have been bought by European and US based multinational companies.
The use of PEPPOL-based solutions is steadily increasing. Just to give a few examples:

Future... Blockhain?
1 May 20238
Imagine an enormous digital record. Anyone with internet access can look at the information within: it is open for all to see. Nobody is in charge of this record. It is not maintained by a person, a company or a government department, but by millions of computers at different locations around the world.
A blockhain is a distributed, decentralized transaction ledger; saved by each node in the network which is maintained and updated by each node. It’s a peer to peer environment. No central authority manages the transaction flow.
Bitcoin is currently most known example using blockhain network.
In the future it could reduce the effort spent on reconciling information among various B2B apps. It could also link the systems to external information sources, like electronic vendors of trading data, in a more customizable and secure way.
