Probably he too k *hunairya-as an adjective, bu t hunairydnc- is apparently different from the very antique bahuvrihi-compo unds w ith a first mem ber in -i-, which no longer constituted a prod uctive type offormation in Avestan. Debrunner, op. c., p. 155, disregards the difficulty h at a deri-vative fro m hunara- would have been *hunardnc-.
