    • 玻璃是目前最常用在覆蓋膜部分的材料,具有光穩定性、剛性、不滲透性、抗撞擊與提供絕緣性等優點。其最大的缺點在於重量、撓曲性與有破裂的可能性。

    • ETFE是目前最常用來取代玻璃的材料。與玻璃相比,ETFE薄膜的透光量超過玻璃的10%。另外一個條件就是“抗衝擊性。玻璃受到衝擊後會即刻粉碎,但ETFE薄膜很柔軟,不會斷裂。與玻璃相比,ETFE薄膜的抗汙性和重量輕也是很大的優點。正因為是具有這些功能的薄膜,才被下一代撓性太陽能電池所採用。ETFE薄膜還有耐熱、抗劃傷、不易燃、難結露等特點。
