Annual Bord na nÓg Quiz and Presentations; The annual Bordnanóg quiz and awards presentation were held on Friday 27/02/15 in Hineys Upper Deck. Teams were presented with their medals for winning the North Mayo U11, Mayo U15 Division 3, North Mayo U16A and North Mayo U18A. Player of the year awards were presented to the following; 2014 U10 Eoin Murphy 2014 U11 Niall Coggins, 2014 U12 Killian Fergus, 2014 National Schools Robert Murphy, 2014 U13 Patrick McAndrew, 2014 U14 & Dr Loftus Award KeelanHegarty, 2014 U15 Luke Fergus, 2014 U16 Gary Hopkins, 2014 U18 Nigel Caden. Special guest on the night was vice secretary of Mayo County Board, Secretary of Mayo BordnanÓg and also Deel Rovers Club secretary Mr Dermot Butler. The annual quiz was also a success. Thank you to our regular quiz master John McLoughlin for running the quiz so efficiently and providing such challenging questions for the participants. Winning team; Darren Caden, Lily Hegarty, Annie Gough, Charlie Benson Reilly, Sarah Gough, Caoimhe O’Malley. Second place; Gary Lynn, Shane Lynn, Brian Hopkins and Eoin McDonnell. Third place; Dean Loftus, Patrick O’Malley, Killian Gilroy and Seamus McDermott.

Team Summary; 2015 U6s

U6s Girls & Boys training commenced in May of this year and continued indoors from October. There are great numbers attending the training sessions and well done to those of you parents who are staying on and helping out our coaches.

2015 U8s U8 Boys, trained throughout last winter in the sports hall before going outdoors in April and were still active in October. They took part in ‘Go Games’ blitzes and also had several challenge games during the summer. We played Breaffy for the Fergal O’Boyle Memorial Cup Which Crossmolina won for the first time. We also had two teams in the anual Ballina U8 blitz and won both cups that were on offer.

2014 Crossmolina Deelrovers U10s

The U10s trained from April right through to September. We competed in the Mayo GAA Go Games series, and also in the Knockmore U10 tournament. The lads also had several challenge games through the year.

2015 U11s

2015 Crossmolina Deelrovers U11s In 2015 we entered two teams in the North Mayo league played in August, September and October. The Divisional finals were held at St Tiernans Park, Crossmolina on 10/10/2015. THE NORTH MAYO U11 FINALS TOOK PLACE ON SATURDAY OCTOBER 10TH IN CROSSMOLINA. 2015 U12s All games were played on the Go-Games format and were max 11 a-side. The idea is to give everyone some football every evening there is a match. This ensures that all players are provided with plenty of football. We played in 10 competitive matches and 4 challenges during the summer. Also this year a skills competition was introduced in the club. Four lads were picked and represented Crossmolina in the divisional final held at St Tiernans Park on 24/9/2015. We finished joint third in 2015.

2015 Crossmolina Deelrovers U12s

2015 National School Team. our combined Nationals Schools Team reached the North Mayo B Final this year with a semi final victory over Kiltane. In the Final we were well beaten by a very strong Naomh Padraig team. A special mention to Crossmolina National Schools Girls and Boys teams who competed in the Mini 7’s, the girls reached the County Semi Final, and also the Cuman na mBunscoil competition where both boys and girls teams reached their divisional finals. A great deal of credit is due to all the coaches who helped out and to the school staff for entering the completion.

2015 Crossmolina National Schools Boys Team that won the North Mayo Cumann Na mBunscoil for first time in 22 years.

2015 U13s

Our U13 team competed in Division 2A of the County League, winning one of their five games. The division proved just a little to strong for our lads, but they showed great signs of improvement.

2015 U14s U14 football started in March with the Feile qualifiers, we had two games in Crossmolina and lost out narrowly to Ardnaree who progressed to represent the county. The U14 competed in Division 3 of the county league. This division had some very strong sides and with our limited resources we struggled in a few games. We competed in the Mayo D Championship. We won two out of four games but failed to progress from the group. The final competition of the year was the North Mayo B Championship. We were beaten in the semi final by Erris St Pats who progressed to win the final.

2015 Crossmolina Deelrovers U14s

2015 U15s.

Our U15 team competed in Division 3 of the county league. We won our one of our four games. The squad continued to train through October in preparation for 2016.

2015 U16s Summary The U16 team competed in Division 2 of the county league. This proved to test our resources to the limit. We drew two games out of five played. We competed in the third tier of the County Championship, and in our first game against Hollymount/ Carramore, we were very unlucky to lose out to two quick goals and the end of each half. While the team competed we didn’t manage to secure a wiin in the other two group games. In the North Mayo U16A Championship semi final, Ballina proved too strong for us.

2015 Crossmolina Deelrovers U16s

2015 U18s 2015 started in Division 1 of the County league. We had a mixed league campaign loosing more games than we won. Next up was the Summer league. Two wins and a draw in the group stages set us up for a home semi final with our neighbours Knockmore. A good win sent us through to the County Minor Summer League Division 1 final for the second consecutive year.

2015 Crossmolina Deelrovers U18s The final was played in McHale Park in August. We started very well but a failure to capitalise on our early dominance and scoring opportunities came back to haunt us as Westport took control of the game. The County Championship was for the first time played on a group system, Claremorris proved too good for us in the first game and we rued many missed chances in the second game vs Ballina in Crossmolina. Our final game against Breaffy also ended in defeat as we conceded goals late on to loose a game that we controlled for long periods. In the North Mayo Championship semi final we defeated Ballina in a keenly contested game, which set up a final meeting with Knockmore. A poor first half performance ultimately cost us as we had left too much to do in the second half. Knockmore winning by three points.

Well done; Six new coaches completed their basic course in Gaelic Games Coaching with the Mayo GAA Coaches in February. Congratulations to Rachel Kearns Carrowkeel Crossmolina who was on the Mayo Ladies Football squad and Irish International soccer squads. Robert Murphy and Edward Goff who represented Crossmolina on North Mayo U14 Development squad Jordan Flynn & Thomas Walsh on U17 Development squad and North Mayo County Cup squad. Enda Lavelle, Gabriel Walsh and Damien Lavin on coaching the North Mayo County Cup team. Crossmolina Deel-Rovers had Eight players on the North Mayo Development Team that took part in county cup recently Jordan Flynn, Tommy Walsh, Keith Gilroy Shaun Cadden, Niall Maughan Darren Caden Conor Rowland and Gary Hopkins. Also Tommy Walsh and Jordan Flynn were selected on the Mayo U17 Development squad Barry Heffernan coaching with Mayo Minors Keelan Hegarty (2014) & Conor Caden (2015) on winning the Dr Loftus Medal for the most promising players. National Schools Boys and Girls teams who reached the divisional finals in the Cumann na mBunscoil competition. The boys on winning their final.
