Amalthea 2010

The main focus of Amalthea 2010 was the Energy Conclave on "Non-Conventional Energy, its importance and scope”. The Energy Conclave had mainly focused on educating the students through a series of lectures by speakers and delegates from industry and research academia. Various facets of the transformation from traditional sources to non-conventional energy sources were discussed. We had mainly distributed the entire conclave into three sessions: Solar Energy, Wind energy and Bio-fuels and also on entrepreneurship. We also had organized an interactive debating session as a concluding part of the program.

Debate and Discussion Session at AMALTHEA ‘10

On the brink of completion of the two-day conclave, an enthralling Discussion and Debating session was held, hosted by Yogita Limaye, Senior Correspondent, CNN-IBN. The debaters consisted of leading industry experts, esteemed academia and top government officials. Some of the esteemed panelists were Mr. Jayesh Buch (Resident Director, Essar Group), Mr. Maheshwar Sahu (Principal Seceratary, Industry and Mines), Professor N. Jotwani (Director, School of Solar Energy), BC Jain (MD, Ankur Scientific), Siddharth Bhandari (Managing Director, Electrotherm Renewables), Dr. Omkar Jani, (Scientist and Managing Director, Kanoda), Mr. Vagmin Buch (Director, GEDA) and Prof. AG Iyer (Editor-in-Chief, Enertia). It was a riveting discussion, with an intense exchange of ideas and clashes of viewpoints. It was a treat for the audience to watch the intriguing discussion on one of the most vital topic of today’s concern, the Energy Crisis. It had the industrialists saying one cannot survive without coal while the academicians argued that coal has to be considered as a thing of the past and the way forward was Solar and Wind. It was overall a huge success and can only get bigger and better from here on.
