(Ann is listening to the radio.) Bill: What are you listening to?Ann: A program that teaches English. Bill: Really? What’s so special about that program?Ann: Oh, it teaches us riddles, jokes, songs, and cultural facts that

we don’t get to learn in class. Bill: That sounds pretty interesting, but I just want to practice

speaking English.Ann: Don’t worry. You can call in every Friday night and speak

English with the host.

Bill: Really? Tell me who the host is.Ann: It’s Jojo Lee. He’s a radio host legend. He has a lot of tips

on learning English. Bill: Jojo Lee. Wait a minute. Didn’t our teacher use his video

to teach us grammar? He speaks excellent English. Did he study abroad?

Ann: No. He’s an “MIT” teacher. Do you know he had a lot of trouble learning English when he was in junior high school? But he never gave up and learned English on his own. Now his English is almost perfect.

Bill: So, how did he get to learn it so well?Ann: If you listen to his radio program, you’ll find out how he

did it.* MIT (Made In Taiwan) 臺灣製的

Jojo Lee’s Tips on Learning English ☆ What are Jojo Lee’s tips on learning English?

Hello, students. Is learning English boring or difficult for you? Well, let me share two stories with you from my own life experience. The first story is about “looking for answers.” When I was fourteen, I read a sentence in a magazine that I couldn’t understand. It said, “I’ve done it.” This tense was strange to me, so I asked my teacher about it. She simply said, “Don’t worry about it. We’ll learn it later.” But I was curious. I spent a whole week going through twenty grammar books until I found the answer.

My second one is about “creating opportunities to use

English.” Every time I saw friendly foreigners on the street, I tried

to speak to them in English. At school, my classmates and I

practiced speaking English a lot. At home, I even practiced

speaking English to myself in the shower.

Now I have questions for you. How do you

learn English? Do you study English only

when you’re told to? After I shared with you

my tips on learning English, now it’s your

turn to find your own ways. Thank you very much.
