Method Statement for Installation of APS

Stamp Color Concrete Flooring System General

This method statement is offered as a guideline for the installation of APS Stamp Color Concrete Flooring System on suitable

substrate. APS reserves the total right to make any amendment from time to time. APS does not warrant any liabilities or loss due

to usage of this method statement by any person.

This method statement should be read in conjunction with the current product data sheet and MSDS of APS Color Stamp Concrete

Flooring System.

Subgrade Preparation

The subgrade should be well drained and have adequate and uniform load-bearing characteristics. To reduce cracking, it should be

graded so that the thickness of the concrete will be uniform. At the time of concreting, it must be moist, completely consolidated,

and free of ponding water. If necessary, the subgrade may be dampened with water in advance of concreting, but concrete should

not be placed over freestanding water or over soft, muddy of frozen ground.

Formwork Erection

Erect edge formwork with top edge level to match the finished concrete level. Note the finished concrete level must match

the designed fall gradient.

Recommended thickness for driveway is 100 – 150mm, depending on type of traffic loading.

Recommended thickness for pedestrian walkway is 75- 100mm.

Plan pattern layout, coordinate slab expansion joint, and control joint dimension & locations with stamping pattern

dimensions where necessary.

Expansion Joint & Control Joint

The Expansion Joint and Control Joint have to be complied with design drawings and specifications.

Recommended Expansion and Control Joint distance to be less than 4 M.

Steel Mesh Reinforcement

Place approved steel mesh reinforcement with the approved concrete cover and overlapping.

Concrete Mix Design

1. Concrete Design is ____________MPa compressive strength, aggregate size is 10mm max.

2. Cement Content is ________ Kg/m3.

3. Slump: 100mm

4. Do not use excessive super plasticizers.

5. Do not use calcium chloride or non-chloride accelerators.

6. Approved APS Integral Color: ____________________, ___% of cement content, never use integral color

more than 10% of cement content.

APS Stamp Color Concrete Installation

1. Ready-mixed concrete supplier for the APS Stamp Color Concrete project has to be maintained

from one source from start to completion.

2. Upon concrete truck arrives site, dose the right amount of integral color pigment into concrete

truck, quickly rotate the drum for 15 minutes.

3. Pour / place well-mixed APS Integral Color concrete into place with pump or wheel barrow.

4. Vibrate concrete as normal standard practice.

5. Concrete shall be poured and finished up to specified level with wood float or screed.

6. Remove the breeding water or wait until the breeding water dry out to a suitable level.

7. Apply 50% of APS Color Hardener at specified application rate (ie. 3kg/m2 – 5kg/m2

depending on chosen color) to freshly floated concrete surface.

8. Broadcast and distribute APS Color Hardener evenly by hand or tools.

9. As soon as APS Color Hardener material has absorbed moisture, which will be indicated by

uniform darkening of surface, use concrete float to smooth concrete surface a second time, just

enough to bring moisture from base slab through color hardener to the surface.

10. Immediately following second floating, apply remaining 50% of specified application rate of

APS Color Hardener. Broadcast in opposite direction of first application for a more uniform

coverage.

11. Do not add water to the surface.

12. Wait until a suitable drying condition, use a steel trowel to trowel the color hardener surface to

an even smooth surface.

13. Wait until the concrete is set up to a condition to support a person’s weight, or use a finger to press

the concrete and if it does not stick to the finger, then it is about time for stamping procedures.

14. Before stamping, broadcast approved color powder release as stamp concrete release agent at

approximate rate of 0.15kg/m2.

15 Begin imprinting and stamping operations by using stamp molds with planned direction until

job completed.

16. After the stamped concrete is dry and cured for 24 hours, use a chisel to remove the double line

appearance.

Concrete Curing

Allow concrete slab to thoroughly cure with natural curing method, or by any approved methods. Do not use chemical curing

compound.

Saw Cutting for Control Joint

After stamp concrete curing for 2 – 7 days, proceed the saw cutting to form control joints if necessary according to design drawing.

The depth of saw cutting should be aimed at 2/3 of the depth of concrete.

Wash off the Release Agent

Wash off the release agent to the condition of approved mock up. Be cautious that too much washing off will lead to less antique

effect and too less washing off would create a strong antique effect on the finish.

Sealing

Rinse and wash off the release agent with some left over to form antiquing effect as according to approved mock up. Let it dry for

24 hours, apply 2 coats of APS Stamp Concrete Sealer.
