Blended Learning Design Workshop C4LTH BLE Lesson Plan
Mission: Preparing the blueprint for the delivering anything in the future!
Interest: BYOD Activity Moblogging your VARK results
Need: We need to apply BLEbecause by skilling academics to provide a diversity of learning
methodologies both F2F and online such as the combined use of interactive online communication
and resources it is anticipated to increase learner motivation and improve outcomes .
Topics:
Introduction Blended Learning Environment (BLE)
Learning Styles 21st Century
Learning Models and Theories
Technologies and ubiquitous learners Blue print with 7cs of learning design framework
Relevance: We need to prepare students of today for the future especially with new media literacies
and the participatory web.
Learning Outcomes:
On completion of this full day workshop, participants will be able to :
understand the meaning of blended learning approaches and the affordances this type ofdelivery in learning and teaching has on today's ubiquitous learners and how itencourages self directed learning
demonstrate an appreciation of the learning styles and modalities students bring to theirlearning and implement an education design that allows teachers to tap into those stylesto connect with them so learners can have the opportunity to further engage in theirstudies in their own time and space.
understand the learning theories to appreciate the types of technology affordances thatwould most benefit the learning outcome. Rather, avoid using technology that does notenhance the learning.
be confident to apply various mixed modes of delivery within a subject area byrepurposing content to various platforms so to maximise the benefits of the ways in whichlearning activities can be designed to enhance the knowledge transfer and motivatestudents to learn in multimodal ways anytime, anywhere,
scaffold the learning using thecognitive apprenticeship model to higher thinking levels
through blended learning design with the use ofconnectivism paradigm models for thedevelopment of expertise in a specialised field of practice
design effective unit outlines that cater for a wide variety of learning styles and time poorstudents to collaborate , interact and participate in face to face and online network spacesto enhance the student experience and increase motivation and retention.
(Ice breaker) Resource requirement :

The 7Cs of Learning Design Framework( Reference: G.Connole , 2012)
Each of the seven Cs has activities and technologies attached to it. For example,
1. Conceptualiseinitates the design process and consists of imagine, design & prep2. Capture relevant(stuff) existing material resources and activities3. Create -build your ideas with existing content / activities, technology affordances4. Communicate has Adobe Connect or Moodle moderate synchronous/aysnchronous5. Collaborate (synchronous), as well as discussion forums (asynchronous) virtual teams6. Considermay make use of blogs, wikis , eportfolios7. Choices- MCQs automated feedback pre module tests reflection using paragogy etc
build a product as an assessment piece .
