butler. It offers remote monitoring, security, entertainment and even home

networking. It can guard your home in your absence and inform you about any

trespasser via your cellphone or internet. It can even talk to you, recognize voice

commands, play music and videos, play games, forecast weather etc.

Spykee is a home security robot that can be controlled with a WiFi connection. Just

install some software in your PC and send commands remotely to the security

device while the video/audio will be transmitted to your PC. It can even send you e-

mails on spotting any suspicious object /person in your house. It features a digital

music player, video recording, infrared auto-park recharging system, WiFi and a

camera with a resolution of 320 x 200 pixels.

These robots can support nurses in nursing homes and elderly homes by remotely

monitoring patients and remotely diagnosing occurring problems. Furthermore, robot

systems can be used within medical care facilities to support patients consulting a

doctor and/or nurse without them being physically present.

Rio Tinto is to become the proud owner of the world's largest fleet

of autonomous trucks

Rio Tinto boosts driverless truck fleet to 150. Autonomous haul truck

is a 320-ton Komatsu 930E.

The trucks, which will start arriving in 2012 over the next four years,

will be used in Rio Tinto’s Pilbara iron ore mines in Western

Australia.

These trucks will be controlled from the Operations Centre in Perth

over 1500km away.

Implementing autonomous haulage on this scale increases

productivity by moving more material quickly and safely.

The move is the latest development in Rio Tinto’s Mine of the

Future programme, which aims to introduce next-generation mining

technology while reducing costs, increasing efficiency and

improving health, safety and environmental performance.

Do robota: ciągle dominuje joystick i klawiatura. Pozostałe rodzaje interfejsów

ciągle są zawodne.

Od robota: całkowity brak możliwości odczytu intencji robota, komunikacja

tylko werbalna.

Akceptacja – robot może wywoływać negatywne skojarzenia: robot zabójca,

zabiera pracę, w przypadku humanoidów – dyskomfort w przypadku dużego

podobieństwa do ludzi.

Mentalne przyswojenie przez użytkownika możliwości jakie otwiera robotyka –

Co nowego jakościowo można osiągnąć (np.: obecność w wielu miejscach

Roboty wkraczają w nasze życie codzienne, jest ich coraz więcej.

Wykonują prace „nudne, brudne, niebezpieczne”, ratują życie,

poprawiają jakość życia.

Jeszcze niedawno bariery stojące przed robotyką miały charakter

tylko i wyłącznie techniczny. Dziś technikalia zaczynamy

rozwiązywać, ale pojawiają się nowe bariery - pozatechniczne

(prawo, etyka, psychologia, koncepcja użycia, akceptacja).
