Web 2.0 exemplifies how people from different places can work together for a common goal using Web technologies. With increasing globalization and increasing use of the Internet, collaborators on projects do not have to be co-located; meetings can take the form of virtual meetings using an online environment. Web-based collaboration tools allow for easy access and easy transferability from one person to another, as the tools can run on any computer with a Web browser and Internet connectivity. Further, users don’t have to e-mail documents back and forth or worry about having the latest version of the software installed. On the other hand, using Web-based collaboration tools requires a live Internet connection to work on shared documents, and thus users may not be able to work when traveling or when having Internet connectivity problems. Also, the applications are limited in what they can do. Google Apps is a current example of a web collaboration tool. It is designed to function similar to an offline office software suite while also allowing for easy collaboration. Users are able to create shared documents, spreadsheet and presentations to other users and work together at the same time without having to be at the same place.
