Manage the development of new LED lighting products having sold in the tens of thousands of

units and generated millions of dollars in revenue

Intelligent outdoor luminaires for smart cities solutions

• Pioneered the technological platform for smart city solutions by gathering data through

luminaires and communicating to the cloud where it is analyzed to extract trends and

actionable information.

• Lead designer for the integration of sensors such as cameras and microphones in existing

outdoor luminaires. Luminaires contain end point processing capabilities as well as

communication capability over the cellular network. Metadata is sent to the cloud server

where additional processing is performed. Various custom applications are developed off this

platform to optimize operations for cities.

• Led the diverse engineering groups in the project: GE’s research center for end point

analytics, GE’s software center in Silicon Valley for cloud server and application

development and GE Lighting for hardware integration in the luminaire.

• Developed an application running on an iPad to help parking officers locate vehicles under

parking violation and another that detects the presence of pedestrians in crosswalks.

• Deployed pilot projects in San-Diego, Jacksonville and New-York. Presented value

proposition, established baseline and demonstrated improvement after deployment.

• Lead inventor for a patent filing for “combining field of view of multiple cameras in a

luminaire”.

LED power supplies

• Managed engineers located in Canada, the US and China for the development of a line of

programmable LED constant current power supplies with 0-10V dimming and DALI

capabilities.

• Setup production lines with capacity in the hundreds of thousand annually at a contract

manufacturer in China.

LED indoor luminaire

• Led the design of the first ever indoor luminaire by GE Lighting using the edge-lit technology

used in smartphones, tablets and monitors.

• Frequently traveled to Taiwan to setup manufacturing at a contract manufacturer. This

manufacturer is also a supplier to Apple, Samsung et many other large consumer electronics

companies.

LED outdoor area light

• Managed a team of engineers located in North-America and Europe to develop a global line

of outdoor LED area light compliant to the standards of the Illumination Engineering Society.

• Setup manufacturing in North-Carolina and Spain.

LED traffic signals

• Led the development of the North-American line of LED traffic signal compliant to the

specifications of the Institute of Transportation Engineers.

• Set up manufacturing at GE’s plant in Mexico.

• Influence the specifications of the New-York State Department of Transportation and adapted

our standard product to comply.

• Co-authored a patent on an electronic method to reduce energy consumption of traffic signals

used with standard traffic controllers.
