The University of Wales Trinity Saint David (UWTSD) is proud of its close educational association with the nation’s armed forces. This affiliation has been highly successful in creating study opportunities for a great number of military students from level 3 to post graduate programmes.

At UWTSD we are committed to developing this very distinctive aspect of our work as part of our future strategy.

Our Military programmes are designed to allow serving and ex-serving members of all services, as well as their MOD civilian colleagues to achieve academic recognition of their extensive work experience and formal training.

Recognising the significant operation experience and training of military and civil service personnel, the programmes are open to all suitably qualified and experienced officers, NCOs and other ranks.

Typically students take 8 to 36 months to complete their studies; however, flexibility is a key feature.

Funding UWTSD ELC Provider Number 1763UWTSD is an approved ELC course provider and can help you make the most of your ELC entitlement. The ELC scheme is designed to complement the Standard Learning Credit scheme by providing larger scale help to personnel who qualify, with a single payment each of a maximum of three separate financial years, to help pay towards the cost of higher-level learning. ELCs may be claimed for learning which is an integral part of the results in the cost effective achievement of a nationally recognised qualification at Level 3 (A level and equivalent) and above as defined by the National Qualifications Framework (NQF)/Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF) (England and Wales), a Level 6 or above on the Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework (SCQF) or, if pursued overseas, an approved international equivalent higher level qualification.

ELC awards are available at two “tiers”, the “Lower Tier” level of up to £1000 per annum for those with four or more years’ eligible service; and at the “Upper Tier” level of up to £2000 per annum for those with eight or more years’ eligible service.

Providing they meet all the criteria, personnel may make ELC claims in up to three separate financial years (which need not be consecutive and may be a combination of lower tier and upper tier funds) either while in service or four to ten years for after leaving. ELC funds may be directed at one learning purpose (such as successive years’ study towards a particular qualification) or different purposes in each of the three years.

Logistics Programmes

Our industry focused curriculum aspires to produce logistics industry leaders of tomorrow.

CILT (UK) Level 5 Professional Diploma in Logistics & Transport

The CILT(UK) Professional Diploma is aimed typically at logistics professionals with 6 or more years of experience.

Programme DurationTypically students are expected to take 8 - 12 months to complete the part time programme. The total time permitted to complete a Professional Diploma award by the CILT (UK) is three years from the date of registration.

The course is delivered online with lectures pre-recorded using a software package called Panopto. In addition to the recorded lectures there are a series of Directed Reading and Reflection Exercises. Each module is split into a number of sections with each section being assessed by an assignment, often an essay. There are no class cohorts and students may begin their studies at any time during the year.

Modules delivered: The Level 5 Professional Diploma consists of four modules drawn from three groups and the Management Module is compulsory.

CILT (UK) Level 6 Advanced Diploma in Logistics & Transport

This course is designed for professionals already working within Logistics and Transport and provides the strategic management skills and tactical insight for professional and business development.

Programme DurationTypically students are expected to take 12 months to complete the part time programme. The course is delivered face to face classroom based at the Defence Logistics School (DLS), Princess Royal Barracks, Deepcut (UK). Classes take place on 10 weekends spread across 10 months.

Price£2,500 fee will include a registration fee to the CILT(UK) and also covers Affiliate Membership of the CILT(UK) for up to three years.

MSc Logistics

Logistics is a key aspect of almost every industrial and service activity. It is an essential part of the management of supply chains in the manufacturing and retail sectors and is critically important in military operations

Programme DurationCompletion of the course is expected to be 32 months. The total time permitted to complete the MSc for part-time students is 12 years from the date of registration. The course is delivered face to face classroom based at the Defence Logistics School (DLS), Princess Royal Barracks, Deepcut (UK). Classes take place on 12 weekends spread across 24 months. In addition there are two Summer Schools, each of 6 days duration.

Part 2 is completion of a student-led research project and report (dissertation).
