first schools & hospitals, campaigning to abolish slavery & tackle causes of entrenched poverty

• Demonstrated relevance and power of God’s gospel by dedicated lives of vision and service

Because He lives…• Everything matters – no lost causes,

no needs too great…

• “all things were created by and for Christ Jesus”

• Now “God is reconciling to Himself, whether things in

earth or the heavens, by His blood shed on the cross” (Col. 1:16-20)

Utterly Essential…• Never forgetting world’s greatest and

deepest need…• Is not more health care reforms or

better education methods• BUT our Saviour, the Lord Jesus

Christ who is the solid Rock on which every good and lasting endeavour must be built

Watch Out• 2 Tim. 3:5 warns against those

which have “the form of godliness but deny its power”

• World’s value statements look great but lack ability to transform lives

• Paper appraisals, audits, ticking boxes cannot be relied on to truly change people – only Christ can

See a need…• Say a prayer (only Christ’s love &

power able to move mountains!)

• Do God’s will – Christ has “committed to us the message of reconciliation” (2 Cor. 5:19)

• Jesus is the only hope for our schools, hospitals, government, workplaces, neighbourhoods…

Your work matters• “Whatever you do, work at it with all

your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men” (Col. 3:23)

• Needs prayer support of church fellowship – Christ’s ambassadors wherever He has placed you

• “in all things, God works, together with His people, to good” (Rom. 8:28 in GNB & RSV translations)

All-prayer• “pray in the Spirit on all

occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.”
