26TH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME - October 1, 2017 Today’s Gospel Reflection: Matthew 21:28-32

GOD’S WAYS In the stream of readings during this portion of Ordinary Time one week’s texts can often appear to pick up exactly where the previous week’s concluded. The sentiments expressed in to-day’s first reading seem to be a direct reaction to the Gospel passage we heard last week. In that Gospel, the landowner pays the same wages to his workers whether they worked for a full day or for only a few minutes. Today Ezekiel gives us the lament, “The Lord’s way is not fair!”(Ezekiel 18:25). These Sundays in Ordinary Time offer us a glimpse into the ways of the Lord. We see how God’s way has the tendency to turn the accepted conventions of the day upside down. Those who always expected that their way to heaven was guaranteed are disappointed. Those who thought they never had a chance are given that chance. Today offers us another opportunity to discover the

SOCIAL JUSTICE

The Gloria (2) The Gloria is a rejoicing prayer, an excla-mation of praise. It begins with the song of the angels at the announcement of the birth of Jesus (Luke 2:14), a heavenly burst of praise for God’s loving action in the world. But in the Gloria, the song goes on, leap-ing, as it were, from height to height, with every kind of praise, blessing, adoration, glory, and thanksgiving. We begin by thanking and praising God the Father; then we turn our gaze to Christ, the Lamb of God. The paschal mystery of Christ’s suffering, death, and resurrection is found here, at the heart of this prayer, which descends to the depths with Christ, but then rises with him to the heavens, where he is seated at the Father’s right hand. The Gloria ends with a series of acclamations to Christ, emphasizing over and over that he “alone” is the Holy One, the Lord, the Most High, truly God, with the Father and the Holy Spirit. Our prayer of praise ends where it began, in the “glory of God the Father.” The Gloria, with its arc leading us from the glory of God to the suffering of Christ and again to glory, is the pattern of the Mass itself. “The Family that prays the Rosary together, stays together.” Traditionally, the month of October has been set aside to high-light the place of the Rosary in the devotional life of the Church. Why October? It is because the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary falls on October 7. What follows is a little history of the feast and the “evolution” of the Rosary to its current form: Pope St. Pius V established this feast in 1573. The purpose was to thank God for the victory of Christians over the Turks at Lepanto—a victory attributed to the praying of the ro-sary. Clement XI extended the feast to the universal Church in 1716. The development of the Rosary has a long history. First, a practice developed of praying 150 Our Fathers in imitation of the 150 Psalms. Then there was a parallel practice of praying 150 Hail Mary's. Soon a mystery of Jesus’ life was attached to each Hail Mary. Though Mary’s giving the rosary to St. Domi-nic is recognized as unhistorical, the development of this prayer owes much to the followers of St. Dominic. One of them, Alan de La Roche, was known as “the apostle of the Rosary.” He founded the first Confraternity of the Rosary in the 15th cen-tury. In the 16th century the Rosary was developed to its pre-sent 20 joyful, sorrowful, glorious, and luminous mysteries.

Spending time in prayer on the First Friday of the month is a beautiful way for us as individuals, as families, and as a community of faith to pause and reflect on our call to discipleship in Christ. Our Church teaches that Adoration of the Blessed Sac-rament flows from the Eucharistic liturgy and leads us back to the liturgy. We have the opportunity through prayer before the Blessed Sacrament to

grow deeper in our relationship with Jesus Christ and with each other. We have the opportunity to become better disciples.

Reflexión al Evangelio de hoy: Mateo 21,28-32 EL PROCEDER DE DIOS

En la corriente de lecturas durante esta porción del Tiempo Ordinario a menudo parece que los textos de una semana se retoman donde concluyeron los de la semana anterior. Los sentimientos expresa-dos en la primera lectura de hoy parecen ser reacción directa ante el pasaje del Evangelio que escu-chamos la semana pasada. En ese Evangelio, el dueño de la viña paga el mismo salario a sus traba-jadores, sea que hayan trabajado todo el día o sólo en los últimos minutos de la jornada. Hoy Eze-quiel ofrece este lamento, “No es justo el proceder del Señor” (Ezequiel 18:25). Estos domingos del Tiempo Ordinario nos ofrecen una ojeada del proceder del Señor. Vemos cómo ese proceder tiene la tendencia de poner patas arriba las convenciones aceptadas. Los que siempre esperaron que su ca-

mino al cielo estaba garantizado quedaron desilusionados. A los que pensaron que nunca tendrían la oportunidad, se les da la opor-tunidad. Hoy se nos ofrece la oportunidad de descubrir la abundancia de la misericordia y el amor de Dios.Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co., Inc.

CORRESPONSABLES DE LOS DONES DE DIOS

El Gloria (2) El Gloria es una oración de regocijo, una excla-mación de alabanza. Comienza con el canto de los ángeles en el anuncio del nacimiento de Jesús (Lucas 2,14), una explosión celestial de alabanza por la acción amorosa de Dios en el mundo. Pero en El Gloria, la canción continúa, saltando, por así decirlo, de altura a altura, con toda clase de alabanza, bendición, adoración, gloria y acción de gracias. Comenzamos por agradecer y alabar a Dios el Padre; entonces volvemos nuestra mirada a Cristo, el Cordero de Dios. El misterio pascual del sufrimiento, la muerte y la resurrección de Cristo se encuentra aquí, en el corazón de esta oración, que des-ciende a las profundidades con Cristo, pero luego se eleva con él a los cielos, donde está sentado a la derecha del Padre. El Gloria termina con una serie de aclamaciones a Cristo, enfatizando una y otra vez que Él es “solo” Santo, el Señor, el Altísimo, verdadera-mente Dios, con el Padre y el Espíritu Santo. Nuestra oración de alabanza termina donde comenzó, en la "gloria a Dios Padre". El Gloria, con su arco que nos conduce de la gloria de Dios al sufri-miento de Cristo y de nuevo a la gloria, es el patrón de la Misa misma. LA FIESTA DE LA FE (NUESTRA LITURGIA)

“La familia que reza unida el Santo Rosario,

permanece unida”. La Iglesia ha dedicado un mes, el de Octubre, para honrar a María con el rezo del Santo Rosario, ninguna devoción

tiene una fiesta litúrgica como la tiene esta devoción. El 7 de Oc-tubre se celebra la fiesta de Nuestra Señora del Rosario. Desde el Pontificado de Sixto IV, 1478, hasta nuestros días, el testimonio de todos los Papas sobre la excelencia del Rosa-rio no ha podido ser más unánime. Sobre ninguna otra práctica de piedad han publicado jamás los Papas tanto número de Encíclicas. Sobresale León XIII con 12, en todas ellas hay un recurso a María por el Rosario. Es conocido como “El Papa del Rosario”. Una de las imágenes de María, que más difusión tiene es la de Nuestra Señora del Rosario. Esto es sintomático de cómo ha calado en el pueblo cristiano esta devoción. Hace años en muchos hogares cristianos era práctica ordinaria el rezo diario en familia del Santo Rosario. El fiel cristiano en muchas ocasiones, cuando tiene que rezar a nivel personal o comunitario acude en la mayoría de las veces al rezo del Santo Rosario, esta devoción nos parece un “comodín”, que siempre nos saca de apuros, pues, en el fondo de ella encontramos los distintos momentos de nuestra vida, gozo, dolor y alegría reflejados en la contemplación de los misterios. El que la Iglesia haya dedicado un mes especialmente a esta devoción, no es con un sentido exclusivo, sino para potenciar la importancia que tiene para nuestra vida esta expresión de devo-ción a María.

Lời Chúa : Chúa Giêsu phán cùng các thượng tế và các kỳ lão trong dân rằng: "Các ông nghĩ sao? Người kia có hai người con. Ông đến với đứa con thứ nhất và bảo: "Này con, hôm nay con hãy đi làm vườn nho cho cha!" Nó thưa lại rằng: "Con không đi". Nhưng sau nó hối hận và đi làm. Ông đến gặp đứa con thứ hai và cũng nói như vậy. Nó thưa lại rằng: "Thưa cha, vâng, con đi". Nhưng nó lại không đi. Ai trong hai người con đã làm theo ý cha mình?" Họ đáp: "Người con thứ nhất". Chúa Giêsu bảo họ: "Tôi bảo thật các ông, những người thu thuế và gái điếm sẽ vào nước Thiên Chúa trước các ông. (Mt 21,28-31).

Anh chị em thân mến, Trong bài Phúc Âm Thánh Matthêu hôm nay, Chúa Giêsu dùng dụ ngôn “ người cha sai hai người con ra làm vườn nho” để dạy cho các thượng tế và các bậc kỳ lão về ĐỨC VÂNG LỜI. Đức vâng lời không chỉ đáp lại bằng miệng mà còn biết thi hành qua việc làm. Chúa Giêsu còn dùng miệng lưỡi của những người Pharisêu để phán quyết và gián tiếp kết tội họ, khi họ trả lời câu hỏi của Chúa Giêsu hỏi là “Ai trong hai người con đã làm theo ý cha mình?” (Mt 21, 31). Chúa kể dụ ngôn người con thứ nhất đã cãi lời là không muốn đi, nhưng cuối cùng đã suy nghĩ lại và hối hận đi làm vườn nho cho người cha. Người con thứ hai mau mắn nói đồng ý ngay, nhưng lại không đi làm. Người con thứ hai ý chỉ về những người Pharisêu, vì họ biết luật biết ý của Thiên Chúa Cha mà không thi hành. Trong dụ ngôn này người làm theo ý của người cha là người con thứ nhất, là kẻ biết SUY NGẪM lại những gì mình đã từ chối không làm, nên anh ta HỐI HẬN và VÂNG LỜI người cha ĐI LÀM vườn nho. Người con thứ nhất ý chỉ tượng trưng cho những cô gái điếm và người thu thuế, vì họ phạm tội không nghe lời Chúa, nhưng sau khi nghe giảng dạy, thì đã biết hối hận tự sửa sai mà thi hành ý Thiên Chúa. Chúa dùng dụ ngôn này để nhấn mạnh cái điều Thiên Chúa muốn nơi chúng ta là phải BIẾT SAI mà SỬA và VÂNG LỜI qua HÀNH ĐỘNG thay vì chỉ nói bằng miệng. Những người Pharisêu nghiên cứu cuốn Kinh Thánh và đọc thuộc nằm lòng đến nơi đến chốn, nhưng họ lại không thi hành những gì đã học biết, và chỉ giỏi nói bằng miệng mà thiếu hành động. Chính vì lẽ đó, Chúa Giêsu kết luận rằng những người thu thuế và những cô gái điếm lại vô nước trời trước tiên, vì họ biết thống hối ăn năn sau khi nghe lời rao giảng của Chúa Giêsu. Ngài cũng cảnh cáo là : “Không phải bất cứ ai thưa với Thầy : ‘Lạy Chúa! Lạy Chúa !’ là được vào Nước Trời cả đâu ! Nhưng chỉ ai thi hành ý muốn của Cha Thầy là Đấng ngự trên trời, mới được vào mà thôi” (Mt 7,21). Loài người phạm tội do bản tính yếu đuối của con người, từ khi ông Adong và bà Evà bị con rắn đánh lừa đã phạm tội không vâng lời Thiên Chúa. Tuy nhiên, Thiên Chúa đã tiền định ban cho chúng ta Con Một của Người là Chúa Giêsu Kitô là ông Adong mới, và Mẹ Maria là bà Evà mới, cả hai đã chiến thắng Satan mà không hề phạm tội. Loài người đã nhờ giá Máu của Chúa Giêsu Kitô mà được giải thoát khỏi quyền lực của tội lỗi và sự chết. Những ai tin vào Danh của Con Một là Chúa Giêsu Kitô thì được Thiên Chúa cứu chuộc. Qua Bí Tích Thanh Tẩy, loài người được sống tự do nhờ giá Máu Con Chiên Thiên Chúa. Sự yếu đuối của loài người không còn nữa, vì đã nhận lấy được quyền năng của Chúa Thánh Thần. Đây chính là Tin Mừng Nước Trời mà Chúa Giêsu Kitô đã ra lệnh và sai các Tông Đồ đi rao giảng và làm chứng đức tin qua việc thuật lại những gì mắt thấy, tai nghe cùng làm nhiều phép lạ, để làm chứng thật về lời họ rao giảng đến từ Thiên Chúa, chứ không phải do loài người tự nghĩ ra, và rửa tội cho những ai nhờ tin vào lời rao giảng của các môn đệ được trở nên con cái Thiên Chúa. Nhờ đức tin, loài người không còn bị ảnh hưởng bởi sự yếu đuối của tội tổ tông truyền do Ông Adong và bà Evà cũ, mà lại có được sức mạnh của Chúa Thánh Thần, để trở nên con cái dòng dõi của Ông Adong và Bà Evà mới là Chúa Giêsu và Mẹ Maria. Khi chúng ta có đức tin thì Đức Mẹ Maria quả là Mẹ thật của chúng ta. Mẹ Maria đã chiến thắng tội lỗi, thì chúng ta cũng chiến thắng tội lỗi được nếu chúng ta tin vào Lời Chúa. Ma quỷ đến cám dỗ và gieo sự nghi ngờ cho những người kém lòng tin, ưa chuộng sự tạm bợ giả dối của thế gian, để họ không thoát khỏi được sự trói buộc của ma quỷ. Các Thánh chừa bỏ hết mọi tội cũng nhờ họ tin vào lời rao giảng trong Kinh Thánh. Chính vì tin nên họ chống trả mãnh liệt với cơn cám dỗ của ma quỷ, và ma quỷ phải rút lui. Các Thánh khuyên chúng ta đừng đầu hàng cơn cám dỗ nữa vì những lời cám dỗ là những lời lừa gạt. Đức Giám Mục sẽ dâng Thánh Lễ đa ngôn ngữ cầu nguyện cho "việc tôn trọng phẩm giá sự sống con người" vào lúc 7:30 chiều thứ ba

ngày 3 tháng 10 năm 2017, tại nhà thờ Thánh Maria Goretti.

Thánh Lễ này khai mạc 40 ngày cầu nguyện đặc biệt cho “Phò Sự Sống con người.”

Xin mời Cộng Đoàn tham dự đông đủ. Sau Thánh Lễ có tiệc nhẹ, xin mỗi người đem theo một món ăn để chia sẻ với nhau.

CHÚC LÀNH CHO CÁC THÚ VẬT

Nhân ngày lễ Thánh Phanxicô thành Assisi, Giáo xứ chúng ta có nghi thức chúc lành cho các thú nuôi trong nhà vào lúc 11:30 sáng thứ bảy ngày 01 tháng 10 năm 2017, tại khuôn viên sân khấu của Giáo xứ. Ông bà và anh chị em có thể đem thú nuôi đến để được chúc lành.

THÔNG BÁO CHÍCH NGỪA CÚM

Chúa Nhật ngày 22 tháng 10 năm 2017, có chích ngừa cảm cúm miễn phí cho toàn thể giáo dân của Giáo Xứ, từ 8 giờ sáng tới 3 giờ chiều trước khuôn viên nhà thờ.
