마르크화가 사라진다. 프랑화도 없어진다. 대신 단일통화인 유러화가 하나의 유럽을
등장시킨다. 독일의 벤츠와 미국의 크라이슬러가 합병, 연간매출액 1천3백억 달러의
거대 자동차회사로 떠오른다. 뒤질세라 폴크스바겐(독일)은 롤스로이스를 (영국)을 인
수한다. 민족과 국경을 초월한 자본의 세계화는 이렇듯 눈부시게 가속되고 있다.
ST
A frenzy of international capital integration is raging across the world. Europe is the most
illuminating example. It is on the verge of launching a unified currency which will replace
national currencies including the mark and the franc. Another proof is the recent wave of
mega-mergers that have taken the world by storm. Benz of Germany and Chrysler of the U.S.
are to be united in a merger that will create a giant automaker worth 130 billion dollars.
Volkswagen of Germany has taken over Rolls-Royce of the U.K. to strengthen its presence in
the global market.
TT 2
The German mark will disappear. So will the French franc. Instead, the European single
currency, euro, will represent an integrated Europe. The merger of Germany’s Benz and U.S.
Chrysler gives birth to an automotive giant with an annual sale of $130 billion. Soon enough,
Germany’s Volkswagen takes over England’s Rolls Royce. Beyond nationalities and borders,
the globalization of capital is being accelerated at an amazing pace.

CRITIQUE

Borrowing and calque are
not translation techniques,
while adaptation go way
beyond translation, and the
remainder are not clearly

Critique 1
100
CRITIQUE
교재 참조(p. 50)
The taxonomies have more to
do with contrastive linguistics
than with the dynamics of
translation, and as such they
register facts of more
importance to language
learners than to translators
Critique 2
101
CRITIQUE
교재 참조(p. 50)
Their categories as
translation techniques or
processes are mere after-
the-event categories for
describing the end result of
the translation process, not
operational procedures.
Critique 3
102
CRITIQUE
교재 참조(p. 50)
The taxonomies are not
predictive. Knowing what
the translation techniques
are does not tell you when
to use them
Critique 4

CRITIQUE

The taxonomies are just
fancy names for what
