• This region has the least count of population.• Trnava is called „Slovak Roma“ or „Little Roma“.• Žitný ostrov (Rye Island) is a river island in southwestern

Slovakia and biggest source of drink water in Middle Europe.

• Tourists are attracted to many cultural and historical sites such as Beckov, Čachtice and Bojnice.

• Favorite targets for a visitors are spas in Trenčianske Teplice, Nimnica and in Bojnice.

• There are the birthplace of Ľudovít Štúr in Uhrovec and mound of M.R. Stefanik at the top Bradlo.

Nitra Region

• Nitra became the capital of the Principality of Nitra (5th

century), the oldest known independent state in the present-day Slovakia.

• In Nitra is the famous theatre of Andrej Bagar.

• In Martin city seats Matica slovenská (from 1863).• Hyundai and Kia Motors are located near Žilina.

• This region is the largest region in Slovakia.• In Zvolen is Zvolen Castle and Pustý hrad (it was the

largest castle in the Middle Europe).
