FUNCIONES DE VARIAS VARIABLES
Definición. Una función real de n- variables , f , definida de D ⊂ ℝ n es una regla de correspondencia que asigna a cada vector X = ( x1 , x2 , x3 , …, xn ) , donde xi ∈ ℝ ∀ i = 1,2,..,n , perteneciente a D , un único número real z , denotado por Z = f (x1 , x2 , x3 , …, xn ).
Simbólicamente,
F : D ⊂ ℝ n → ℝ X El conjunto D se llama dominio de f , y su imagen es el conjunto de todas los valores reales de f .

CURVAS DE NIVEL
Si z = f ( x , y ) representa a la superficie S ,entonces las curvas proyectadas sobre el plano XY tienen la forma
f ( x , y ) = k ; k ∊ Im(f)Definición .-Las curvas de nivel de una función f : IR² → IR son las curvas cuyas ecuaciones son f ( x , y ) = k , donde k es un elemento de la imagen d e f. NOTAS:1. Cada punto de la curva de nivel f ( x , y ) = k , corresponde a un único punto de la superficie que se encuentra k unidades arriba de él .2. Al conjunto de curvas de nivel obtenidas al variar K , se le llama MAPA DE CONTORNO3. Los valores de z = f ( x , y ) cambian más rápidamente cuando mas próximas entre sí se encuentren sus curvas de nivel . 4. Si f : IR 3 → IR , la gráfica de f está contenida en IR 4 , cuya proyección en el Plano XYZ son superficies de la forma : w = f ( x , y , z ) , llamadas SUPERFICIES DE NIVEL de f
