THE ADVENTURE STARTS HERE. When our designers created Montana SV6s instruments and controls,

the goal was to create an intimate link between driver and machine. Consider, for instance, the gauges. In

the best performance tradition, theyre large and feature high-contrast white-on-black graphics for easy

reading. Or consider the steering wheel, shown above.* It includes switches for the sound system, so you

can make adjustments without taking your hands off the wheel. Think of it this way. With Montana SV6,

the fun doesnt start when you reach your destination. It begins every time you turn the key.

HIDDEN TALENTS. Montana SV6s rugged, SUV-inspired style is obvious from

across a crowded parking lot. But the fact is that many of this vehicles most

impressive features are well out of sight. Take the steel body structure, for

example. Through the use of advanced computer engineering techniques, Pontiac

engineers designed Montana SV6 to be highly resistant to bending and twisting

under pressure. The result is a more controlled, comfortable ride and the kind of

lasting quality you can feel. Montana SV6s sturdy body structure also contributes

to something else we hope youll never have to see excellent crashworthiness.

TECHNOLOGY

1. CRUSH ZONES

Special structures at the front and rear of Montana SV6 are engineered to collapse in acontrolled manner during an impact, absorbing energy before it can reach the passenger

compartment.

2. HYDROFORMED ENGINE CRADLE

Montana SV6s engine is mounted to a hydroformed steel engine cradle, which is in turn

mounted to the body structure. The cradle is strong and lightweight.

3. 3.9L V6 ENGINE WITH VVT

Even fully loaded, the 2009 Montana SV6 delivers excellent performance thanks to a high-tech

240 hp 3.9L V6 with efficiency-enhancing Variable Valve Timing (VVT).

4. TRACTION CONTROL

On slippery surfaces, full-function traction control reduces wheelspin and helps keep you in

control by reducing engine power and, if necessary, applying the front brakes.

5. POWER RACK-AND-PINION STEERING

For agile handling and a positive steering feel, Montana SV6 features power rack-and-pinion

steering. Its the same basic design used on our Pontiac Solstice roadster.

6. 4-WHEEL DISC BRAKES & ABS

For sure, confident stopping, every Montana SV6 features power disc brakes at all 4 wheels.An anti-lock braking system (ABS) is standard, too.

7. EFFICIENT AERODYNAMICS

Our designers and engineers went to great lengths to optimize Montana SV6s aerodynamics.

Benefits include a quieter ride and increased fuel efficiency.

8. ONSTAR

Every Montana SV6 includes the convenience and security of OnStar and 1 year of the Safe &

Sound Plan as standard equipment.

9. FRONTAL AIR BAGS

For added safety, Montana SV6s driver and front-passenger dual-stage frontal air bags

deploy with reduced force in lower-speed collisions.*

10. NOISE DAMPENING

Finely-tuned aerodynamics arent the only thing reducing noise in the Montana SV6 interior.

We incorporated sound-dampening materials into the floor, headliner and doors to help quiet

the interior.

11. SAFETY CAGE CONSTRUCTION

The Montana SV6 passenger compartment is surrounded by a steel safety cage.High-strength steel is used in the A pillars (11a), rocker panels (11b) and mid-rails (

to help maintain the integrity of the structure in a collision.

12. SIDE-IMPACT AIR BAGS

For extra protection in a crash at the side of the vehicle, Montana SV6 offers availa

seat-mounted side-impact air bags for both the front- and second-row seats.*

13. CORROSION-RESISTANT BODY PANELS

To ensure that Montana SV6 stays looking good for the long term, all exterior body p

except the roof and hood are made of corrosion-resistant 2-sided galvanized steel. T

is made of lightweight aluminum, which is impervious to rust.

14. STABILITRAK

Montana SV6s standard StabiliTrak electronic stability control system constantly

for lateral skids. When it detects excessive lateral movement, StabiliTrak steps in to

restore steering control by individually applying and modulating the brakes.
