Advanced Placement and Honors Physics students at PTHS took part in the Adopt A Physicist program sponsored by Sigma Pi Sigma, the physics honor society. Through this process, the students engage in a discussion board format of questions and answers and can explore the benefits of studying physics by connecting with expectsanswers and can explore the benefits of studying physics by connecting with expects who are actively working on everything from particle physics research to scientific freelance writing.

On October 23, the Peters Township High School Spanish Club held a special event to celebrate the Mexican tradition of “Dia de los Muertos” (Day of the Dead). Elementary art teacher Kelly Borra was the group’s special guest to show the students how toart teacher Kelly Borra was the group s special guest to show the students how to paint the skulls, and soft drinks and snacks were provided by El Campesino Restaurant. The group is sponsored by teacher Caitlin McKenna.

Apple Crunch Day
On Friday, October 24th students at Bower Hill participated in Apple Crunch Day, a statewide celebration of healthy snacks. To celebrate, students were encouraged to wear red, yellow or green and parents were asked to send in an apple or another fruit or vegetable for their child’s snack that day The event and an apple snack recipe wereor vegetable for their child s snack that day. This month the State released the School Performance Profiles – a report that details how our schools are doing based on factors that include not only on standardized test scores but many th f t th t i l t d t hi t d th O li t d b dother factors that signal student achievement and growth. Our scores are listed above, and we
are proud to announce that PTHS ranks 2nd among area high schools and three of our schools ranked in the top 15 overall in the region. A complete look at our score can be found on the District website.

Students at PTHS are once again competing in the TribLive Lib Dub contest. This video contest helps to inspire school spirit across our region and the winning video will win $2500 for their school media department. PTHS won this competition two years ago and the community will be voting over the next few weeks More than 800 studentsand the community will be voting over the next few weeks. More than 800 students participated in this volunteer venture and the final product was filmed in just two takes!

Throughout the District, Halloween events brought out everyone’s creative side. The High School held their annual staff costume contest to benefit Breast Cancer Research. On October 21, the Peters Township High School National Honor Society, Interact Club and Students Against Destructive Decisions held the annual Haunted Hallways event at Pleasant Valley for young students in our community. The Halloween event featured fun and games and raised more than $1700 for the Washington City Mission – the most ever raised by the event!
