JANUARY 28, 2018 4th Sunday of Ordinary Time Pg. 3
What is Lectio Divina?
“Lectio Divina,” a Latin term, means
“divine reading” and describes a way
of reading the Scripture. This is
intended to promote communion with
God and to increase the knowledge of
God’s Word. Are you willing to learn
how to pray with the Sacred Scripture?
Join us every Tuesday at the Mount Carmel
Campus at 7:00pm.
“Ignorance of Scripture is Ignorance of Christ” - St. Jerome
EVENING PRAYER (VESPERS) EVERY
SUNDAY DURING LENT
“When evening approaches & the day is already
far spent, evening prayer is celebrated in order
that we may give thanks for what has been given
to us, or what we have done well during the day.
We also recall the redemption through the prayer
we send up ‘like incense in the Lord’s sight,’ and
in which ‘the raising up of our hands’ becomes
‘an evening sacrifice’.” (PS 141:2) Come & pray
with us every Sunday during Lent at 5:00pm at
the Holy Angels Campus.

BLESSING OF THE THROATS
February 3rd is the Feast of St. Blaise. Throats will be blessed following all
weekend Masses.
BURNING OF PALMS
There will be a box to collect old palms at the back of each church. We will be collecting palms until Saturday, February
3rd. Our Religious Education Program will be burning the palms on Sunday, February 4th during their Religious Education Class.
RECYCLE YOUR OLD & UNNEEDED CALENDARS
Recycle your beautiful old and unneeded new calendars. The Greater Meriden Council of Catholic Women is collecting new and used calendars of babies, animals, religious, beautiful and patriotic scenes, etc. The calendars will be cut up and put into page protectors (3yrs of calendars) and a three-ring binder that will be given to nursing homes to bring beauty and conversation starters to the elderly as they talk to one another about the beauty of the pictures, it often reminds them of cherished memories.
There will be a cardboard box in the entrance of each campus labeled “CALENDARS” to collect them.
NEEDLES AND HOOKS
~ATTENTION CROCHETERS & KNIT-TERS~
I am Nancylea Bates. We at Nee-dles & Hooks are always looking for new crocheters & knitters and also welcome any yarn donations. We
meet every two weeks, Wednesday mornings 10am - 12pm at the Holy Angels Campus. Anyone
that is interested in joining us or donating yarn may call me at 203-427-5553.
We donate everything that we make to Catholic Charities, nursing homes & inner-city children
who need hats, mittens & scarves.
LIFE … WHAT A BEAUTIFUL CHOICE
Our Lady Queen of Angels Pro-Life Outreach Ministry at Holy Angels Campus will sponsor a Pro-Life Rosary Novena & Benediction at Holy Angels, 585 Main St. in So. Meriden. The 9-week Novena will be held on Monday evenings at 6:00 p.m. beginning March 26, 2018, & run through to May 21, 2018.
Let us come together by bringing our prayer requests to our Blessed Mother & pray that this year, 2018, will be one in which peace reigns in our world, in our neighborhoods, in our families, in our hearts, for our loved ones in the Military, for the protection of the unborn child, the ill & the elderly and for an end to terrorism. Our families are a gift from God.
We invite you all to come as often as you can as we pray for God’s greatest gift … LIFE!

KNIGHTS CORNER
The Knights of Columbus want to remind all the Parishioners of Meriden that when we are stressed from worries of the day or even part of our regular schedule, spending time with the Blessed Sacrament helps to keep us rooted in our faith and better able to deal with the daily challenges that we all face.
The following Churches have Chapels that are open to the public as listed:
St. Rose Church - Entrance on right side of Church Mon. - Fri. 9am - 3pm, Sat. All Day
St. Stanislaus Church - Entrance next to Parish Office open daily including weekends 7am - 9pm.
Spend some time with the Blessed Sacrament and thank GOD for the strength to face daily challenges and for all the blessings that we receive ESPECIALLY those that we never even notice.

Thank You! I would like to
express heartfelt thanks to the Our
Lady Queens of Angels family for the lovely
flowers, cards, e-mails & prayers during my brother, Ralph Miner,
Jr.’s medical struggle & his passing on January 12th. Your support & kindness has been comforting & is greatly appreciated. At his
funeral today, I was touched by a passage recited by our niece and will share it for those of you
who loved ones, beyond our understanding, have also suffered:
God’s Garden
God looked around His garden and He found an empty place. And then He looked down upon the earth, and saw your tired face. He put His arms
around you, and lifted you to rest. God’s Garden must be beautiful, He always takes the best. He knew you were suffering. He knew you were in pain, He knew
that you would never get well on earth again. He saw the road was getting rough, and the hills were hard to
climb, so He closed your weary eyelids, and whispered, “Peace be thine.” It broke our hearts to
lose you, but you didn’t go alone, for a part of us went with you, the day God called you home.

SEVEN DEADLY SINS, SEVEN LIVELY VIRTUES
Sunday, February 18th, 2018, 1:30 p.m. at the Holy Angels Campus - 585 Main St., So. Meriden
(weather permitting)
Join Bishop Robert Barron for this engaging presentation concerning the seven deadly sins,
those great spiritual blocks that inhibit our flourishing a relationship with God and one
another.
Bishop Barron shows us how to counteract these seven sinful patterns through a conscious process
of opposition, which are the “seven lively virtues.” The seven lively virtues offer antidotes
to each sin and help us on the right path to healing.
All are welcome to attend. Refreshments will be available!
The next Lenten Movie will be Sunday,
