Slogan Information主题口号The slogan for the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing is,

同一个世界,同一个梦想“Tong yi ge shi jie tong yi ge meng xiang” means “One world, one dream.” The slogan reflects the universal values which are unity, friendship, progress, harmony, participation, and dream. 团结 友谊 进步 和谐 参与 梦想The slogan also expresses the many wishes that all people share all over the world, one of them being to continue to strive for a bright future of Mankind. It expresses the high ideal of the Beijing people as well as the other Chinese people to help create a better world “hand in hand” with the people from the rest of the world. This slogan is simple and easy to remember, yet it is meaningful and inspiring.

• The five mascots of the 2008 Beijing Olympics are Beibei, Jingjing, Huanhuan, Yingying, and Nini. They represent the 5 Olympic rings.

• When their names are put together, the phrase “Bei Jing Huan Ying Ni” is formed, which means “Beijing welcomes you.”

• Each mascot represents an animal: Beibei is the fish( 鱼 ), Jingjing is the panda( 熊猫 ), Yingying is the Tibetian Antelope ( 羚羊 ), and Nini is the swallow( 燕子 ), Huanhuan represents the Olympic torch( 火炬 ).

• The mascots also represent the landscapes of China: water( 水 ), forest( 木 ), fire( 火 ), Earth( 土 ), and sky( 天 ).
