A need of improving psychological consulting competency of high school teachers(Times New Roman sz 11, B, center)

This study aims to explore a teacher's need of enhancing psychological consulting ability to meetrequirements of education renovation, particularly with a new demand of circular number 3 I on "Guidanceto improve psychological counselling capacity for high school teachers" issued by Ministry of Educationand Training (2017). A total of 441 teachers from diffrrent levels including primary, seconday and highschool from 5 provinces including: Moc Chau, Ha Noi, Ninh Binh, Qui Nhon, An Giang took part in thisstudy by answering a questionnaire, along with semi-structure interview with 20 teachers and l0 managers.Results revealed that teachers are lacked of knowledge and their professional skills on psychologicalconsulting were still limited. Thus, teachers' need on improving knowledge and skills in relation topsychological consultation was significant. Among various models of professional supporting, periodicalgroup based and direct supervison had the highest proportion. Teachers' recommendations for improvingthe effectiveness ofenhancing teachers' consultation ability in order to meet students' need were analysedand discussed.
