HR’s Own : MJ

Hiring, The “Spring Swoon” Spring has finally arrived and so has what economists call the “Spring Swoon”.

According to the New York Times, our annual “Spring Swoon” is when employers

taper off hiring new employees. The National spring hiring slumber doesn’t seem

to have taken hold of a very “Conscience” Upper Miami Valley.

Regionally, Ohio’s Job and Family Services has pegged a 16,000 jobs increase to

our State in March. Many of our clients have been adding new positions which is

keeping HR Associates’ Recruiters very busy. The unemployment rate in the

Upper Miami Valley has held steady at 7% throughout the first quarter of 2013.

Our reluctant local economy is growing because we all have made great strides

toward getting our communities back to work. Reviving our workforce up to 7%

unemployed most definitely feels different than the 11%-13% rate of 2009.

HR Video Ad: 7,500 YouTube Views HR Associates’ YouTube Video Ad has reached an amazing 7,500 views. The ad

promotes the company’s website, www.hr-ps.com and the ease of searching jobs

and applying online. HR Associates has tapped many different media and social

avenues to fulfill our client expectations. Visit http://bit.ly/ZDNchs to view.

Wright-Patt Job Fair April 10, 2013...Wright-Patt’s Airman and Family Readiness Center sponsored

the 2013 Spring Job Fair at the Ervin J. Nutter Center in Fairborn. Nearly 100

employers and 8 service agencies and organizations set up booths for the event.

Unlike the November Job Fair which is only open to military personnel, this Job

Fair was open to the Public to show support for the local community.

More than 1000 Job Seekers passed through the Job Fair in the 5 hour event with

450 Seekers in the 1st hour according to Event Coordinator, Alvin Dennis.

New Candidate Success

HR Associates’ Booth at the Job Fair revealed a diverse candidate pool in Ohio’s

Miami Valley. HR’s Manager, Heather Haines qualified 65 candidates interested in

openings in the Upper Miami Valley. Skills varied from a Chemical Engineer, to a

Biologist/Linguist, to a MBA, and even an Aircraft /Helicopter Mechanic.

HR Associates’ Recruiters have dived into the stack of resumes we received and

have begun our interview process. A few of the candidates have already been

tapped for new careers with HR’s clients.

The Spring Job Fair was open to the general public as well as active duty of all

military branches, prior service veterans and their families. The Guard, Reserves

and Department of Defense civilian workers were also invited.

HR Associates’ Word Find

Around The Water Cooler April 19, 2013… Michelle’s (MJ) wedding isn’t until November but other than book-

ing Honeymoon plans she says “Everything is booked and done, including my

dress.” We all love a good shindig and can hardly wait to see her and TJ walk

down the aisle.

Heather Haines (H) has been attending Total Fitness in Piqua 5 days a week. She

looks great and comments on how she can lift more than her husband, Brian. It

takes a good bit of motivation to stick with workouts when you have obligations at

home. Good Job!

Covington High

Drama Club Performs

March 22, 2013… Covington

High School’s Drama Club per-

formed the Play, “Jolly Roger

and the Pirate Queen” by Craig

Sodaro in March.

The cast let out a few pirate

“Arrgghs” in a matinee for the

Jr. High and 2 evening shows

for the community. The Play has

been performed by more than

50 schools in the U.S..

HR Associates gave our support

for the Arts with the “Word Find”

puzzle ad on this page.

Good luck!

From The President’s Desk April 19, 2013… Heather Risner enjoys a challenge and has been very busy filling

skilled positions for our clients. She even had 2 Associates interview for a Ship-

ping & Receiving position and HR’s Client created a new position for one and

hired both of our guys.

Heather stated HR Associates has added 2 new companies in April. She looks

forward to showing her new clients what “Great customer service and

communication” is all about.

San Francisco Business Trip

Heather is excited to spend a few days in San Francisco in May visiting a Vendor

Business Partner’s new facility and discussing the positive changes both compa-

nies have introduced. Heather believes this meeting will solidify our 6 year busi-

ness relationship for future collaboration. Taking in the city lights and visiting Pier

39’s seals should be fun too.

Graduation

As Heather puts it, “The count down is on” for the Graduation of her oldest son

from High School. She has been busy with Graduation Invitations and planning a

party for the Graduate. Relatives from as far as Denver will be attending the festiv-

ities. Heather made the comment, “ I have the move in date for Wright State on

my calendar.” One last word, “Teenagers”.
