STROKE MANAGEMENT

One day in M alang City, Mr. Aditya was taken by his fami ly to the UMM Hospitals

and straigh to emergency room. H e complained could not move his left extremi ty. after

nu rses and doctors do the anamnesis, the obtained resul ts is hi gh blood pressur e, muscle

weakness (hemiplegia), and stif fness in one extr emi ty. Then the doctor diagnosed that M r.

Adi tya having a stroke and after fur ther assessment turns patients also have experi enced of

high blood pressur e in the last few years. Nur ses fol low up the patient by giving oxygen

and intr avenous therapy, then one of the nurses approach hi s fami ly to convey the action

that wi ll be given.

Nurse Vikrul : excuse me Miss, your husband will be given further treatment. should you

go to receptionis to register and pick a comfortable wards for your husband.

Mrs. Yumi : Okay! I will go to the receptionis to register. Hmm... Nurse, please provide

the best care for my husband.

Nurse Vikrul : of course. we will always strive to provide the best care for your husband.

Mrs. V straight to the resepsionis to register and pick wards in accordance with what he

needs.

At another location, the nur se is busy discussing about the diagnosis on M r. H .

Nurse Vikrul : nurse Dewi, we should immediately give heparin therapy on Mr. H, then we

will monitor the GCS and his vital signs in order not to get worse. So, what do you think?

Nurse Dewi : hmm i agree with you. and these cases can be diagnosed with the

ineffectiveness of peripheral tissue perfusion related to cerebral edema. The second diagnosis

is a barrier to physical mobility related to weakness.

Nurse Fahmi : hmm yeah., third diagnosis is ineffective verbal communication related to

neuromuscular damage. with nursing interventions is to teach the patient to verbal

communication and follow simple speech commands.
