3. New features

3.1. Studio

3.1.1. Multi Edit Tags and Alarms It is possible to select multiple elements and change their common properties to do so, select

multiple tags or alarms, right click and select Modify.

Properties that can be changed:

Tag: group, sample, tag type, record, start-up value, lock, alarm, multi-state, SoftPLC

(without name and address);

Alarm: All properties except alarm condition and alarm description.

The properties that cannot be changed are locked (disable).

The properties that have been changed are highlighted in yellow.

3.1.2. Image Shortcuts In Image editing mode, the following shortcuts are added:

Ctrl+E Display the selected item(s) Properties.

Ctrl+PageUp Bring to Foreground the selected item(s).

Ctrl+PageDown Send to Background the selected item(s).

F11 Toggle display of toolboxes (hide the toolboxes currently displayed / restore the hidden

toolboxes).

F12 Toggle full-window mode (remove all the toolbars, status bar, and border / restore the

hidden bars and border).

Shift+<Arrow> Move the selected item(s) in the direction given by the <Arrow>. <Arrow> can

be one of the following keys: Left, Right, Up or Down.

Ctrl+Shift+<Arrow> Same as Shift+<Arrow>, but 'faster' (step of moving is higher).

All these new shortcuts are enabled by default. They can be disabled by adding the following line in

apptune.dat:

DISABLE_SHORTCUTS=YES

Note: adding this option will disable only these new shortcuts. The shortcuts from former releases

will remain active.

3.1.3. PNG support PNG Image file format is now supported for the images. It can be used in both Web and Studio

images.

Please note that when PNG images are used in web, they will use the alpha transparency channel

contained in the image itself, whereas in the studio background transparency has to be defined.

Page 6: ControlMaestro2013 ReleaseNotes En

ControlMaestro 2013 Release notes v01A – 26/06/2013 Page 5

3.1.4. Image Animation Format It is possible to create an animation based on a .zip package containing several png pictures.

When importing the ILS file, it will rely on the existing OBJECT SGF type. A .zip package will be

referenced. The .zip package will be standard zip with no password. ZIP Package will contain flat files

with no hierarchy. The PNG files must have the same size in width/height.

The transparency color (R,G,B) will apply to all images in the package, so they must be created that

way. One file will be used for configuration, config.xml.

ILS Example:

OBJECTS:

OBJECT SGF 1 {

TRANSPARENT COLOR = (255,255,255) LAYER="BASE" [ <5120,-19968> <22759,3561> ]

".\ventilation_on.zip|mytagName_canBeOptional "

}

Config.xml example:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>

ControlMaestro 2013 Technical notes

3.1.6. Online Logged User In a Web project, it is possible to display the local logged-in user. The tag SYS_OPERATOR is used to

display the user name online when the internet browser is being used, and it works per session.

3.1.7. Errors Files Errors files management has been improved:

A new folder "\Logs" is created in the project and will contains per sessions logs file in compressed

format (zip). At application start-up, errors.dat file from previous session is zipped and moved to the

Logs folder. The file is renamed as “errors_YYYY-MM-DD_hh-mm-ss.zip” with date and time of the

zipping action.

Errors parameters are now applied to the \Logs folder:

Size of files in Logs folder exceed the Maximum Historical Size, the oldest files are deleted.

Number of files in Logs folder exceed the Maximum Session Count, the oldest files are

deleted.

3.2. LDAP LDAP import from Active Directory has been improved:

User interface enhancements for synchronization: - Possibility to filter users and groups list for easier selection.

Performance improvements for synchronization: - Using SSL connection for security and paginated mode to retrieve users in order to

handle big directories efficiently.

Use of password expiration from LDAP: - Password validity is using expiration date from LDAP server. If server is offline, a

grace period can be set to allow offline login.

3.2.1. Online connection When an operator or an application developer successfully authenticates in ControlMaestro with his LDAP identity, he will be prompted to change his password if it has expired. Until the user enters a correct new password, he will not be able to authenticate himself. When an operator or an application developer successfully authenticates in ControlMaestro with his LDAP identity, if his password reached its expiration date notification, the user will be notified and be offered to change his password. From now on, once a user is authenticated, his LDAP user name and password will be cached in ControlMaestro. For security reasons, the password is encrypted using MD5. These data is valid for a fixed limit of time.

3.2.2. Offline connection An operator or an application developer will be able to authenticate in ControlMaestro when the LDAP is not reachable. This feature requires two conditions: The user must have authenticated himself in online mode in a previous session in order to have his identity cached in ControlMaestro. The cached data needs to still be valid: it expires when the expiration date has passed. The offline connection status will be notified to the current user by displaying a warning dialog box.

Page 8: ControlMaestro2013 ReleaseNotes En

ControlMaestro 2013 Release notes v01A – 26/06/2013 Page 7

Note: the reason why the Windows AD server is not reachable will not be displayed to the user.

3.2.3. New user management parameters In user management properties, a new group box “LDAP bidirectional connection management” is added. Inside this group box, two new fields are created:

“Cached data is valid for [10..30]: days” “Password expiration reminder [3..14]: days”

3.2.4. Changing LDAP password from ControlMaestro An operator will be able to change his LDAP account password inside ControlMaestro in runtime mode only (not available from the studio), using the new fast action: ChangeLdapPassword. This feature will be available both in studio image and web application.

Page 9: ControlMaestro2013 ReleaseNotes En

ControlMaestro 2013 Release notes v01A – 26/06/2013 Page 8

ControlMaestro 2013 Technical notes

This fast action can be called in two different configurations:

Change current user password: user name field is disabled.

Change user password: user name is enabled, allowing any LDAP user to change his password.

ChangeLdapPassword will inform the user of the following events by displaying a warning dialog box:

Unknown user or incorrect old password.

New password and confirm password do not match.

Password cannot be changed, cached password is not valid: this might happen if the user did change his LDAP password on a different station whereas he was authenticated in ControlMaestro.

Note: No other error message will be displayed. Important: Modifying user password requires the Windows AD to support TLS in 128 bits on port

636.

Page 10: ControlMaestro2013 ReleaseNotes En

ControlMaestro 2013 Release notes v01A – 26/06/2013 Page 9

3.2.5. Password expiration notification Notification of current user password expiration will be processed in a system alarm object. The alarm will be raised when ControlMaestro detects that the current user password has expired. The expiration date notification will be displayed on login in online mode only.

A new tab is added for “LDAP password expiration”.

Password expiration notification.

ControlMaestro 2013 Technical notes

3.3. HTML template The HTML template has been redesigned to allow users to use their own report template and

perfect the printed version.

It is now possible to add some HTML types which can be defined as header, footer and approval.

Three directories: “Header”, “Footer” and “Approval” files are found in the product installation

HTML template folder.

These files can be chosen when generating a new HTML Template.

It is now possible to choose between the following modes:

Default: as previously, the configuration from the event summary is used.

Start: a new summary is added with the filters saved in the event summary properties, but

all alarms started in the date range are defined during generation.

End: a new summary is added with the filters saved in the event summary properties, but all

alarms ended in the date range are defined during generation.

Ack: a new summary is added with the filters saved in the event summary properties, but all

alarms acknowledged in the date range are defined during generation.

Note:

When printing an event summary which displays comments: a new row containing the full comment

is added below the alarm.

Page 12: ControlMaestro2013 ReleaseNotes En

3.4. Alarms

3.4.1. Alarms in SQL Alarms history can now be archived in SQL Database. SQL History format is applied for Tags and

Alarms at the same time.

Note project on migration:

At start-up, if the project was using SQL for Tags history, then Alarms history will also use SQL. By

default the DSN will be the same as the one used for Tags.

3.4.2. Remote SQL ControlMaestro can now relies on distant SQL Server Databases.

In order to allow multiple applications to connect to the same remote server and to avoid any

overwriting of databases, a prefix must be added to the database name for each application.

Note:

When a remote server is used to store the databases, it is not allowed to attach and detach them.

Before launching the application, the databases must be created or attached manually on the distant

server. Naming convention: prefix_VfiTag and prefix_VfiAlarm.

3.4.3. Station Properties – VFI When SQL format is selected, it is no longer allowed to use back other formats. Therefore, all

controls related to Other Formats are disabled.

Page 13: ControlMaestro2013 ReleaseNotes En

ControlMaestro 2013 Release notes v01A – 26/06/2013 Page 12

ControlMaestro 2013 Technical notes

3.4.4. SQL Server setup The SQL Server Setup dialog box is now used to configure Tags or Alarms connections for both local

and remote SQL Servers.

In that example, the databases will be named “MASTER1_VfiTag” or “MASTER1_VfiAlarm”.

3.4.5. SQL Management Tools As for Tags, actions available for Alarms management are: backup/restore/import.

Page 14: ControlMaestro2013 ReleaseNotes En

ControlMaestro 2013 Release notes v01A – 26/06/2013 Page 13

3.4.6. Alarms Acknowledgment Two options, “Force Comment” and “Force Sign In” are added to the alarms definition, in order to

force the user to sign in and/or to enter a comment to the alarm when acknowledging.

When acknowledging, the Force Sign in dialog box asks the user to confirm its password, when at

least one of the selected alarms has the option Force Sign In activated.

When acknowledging, the Force Comment Dialog Box asks the user to enter a comment when at

least one of the selected alarms has the option Force Comment activated.

3.4.7. Alarms Inhibition with Time Out After a defined timeout, in millisecond, a tag will not inhibit an alarm anymore even if the condition

is still valid.

The maximum value is 4294967295 milliseconds (about 49 days).

3.4.8. System Alarms The System Alarms configuration has been improved, all system alarm’s tabs are grouped into one

tab “System Alarms”.

3.4.8.1. Central UM Connection Loss System Alarm When the application loose the connection to the central UM database, a system alarm "Connection

to the User Management central database has been lost" is raised.
