Instructions aux auteurs

Since 1st January 2009, the Comptes rendus Physique only publish art icleswritten on the invitation of the Acadmie des sciences.These articles can be part of a dossier which is coordinated by a guest Editor.Authors send their manuscript to this guest Editor.Other m anuscripts, written on th e invitation of th e Acad mie d es sciences,should be sent to the Ed itor-in-Chief o f the Journal (using the website, see

below).Articles will be examined by two referees chosen by the Editor-in-Chief. ThePermanent Secretaries, responsible for all publication in the Comptes rendus,have the final decision on accepting an article.

1) Submission of articles written on the invitation of a Member or a

corresponding Member of the Acadmie des sciences

2) Submission of an article for a thematic issue

Please contact the guest editor.

3) Articles technical requirements

Language

Articles should, preferably, be written in English.Authors are requested to include some elements in both English and French: Ifthis is a problem, the Editorial board can provide translations.

Composition

Each article should include: a title (as concise as possible), in English and French;

the name of each of the authors, including full first name;

the postal address of each author, telephone, fax number and e-mail addressof the corresponding author;

an abstract, in French and in English (maximum 100 words); a list of keywords (maximum 7), in English and in French;

the text of the article;

acknowledgements (should not exceed three lines);figure and table captions, in English and in French;

a bibliography (see below).

Length

Submitted articles should not use more than 10 printed pages. A printed pagecontains about 5000 characters letters, spaces, or symbols; a figure occupiesa qu arter of a page m inimum (1 250 characters). Th is length can onl y b eexceeded by agre ement w ith t he G uest Editor (f or articles submitted f or

publication in a th ematic issue) or by ag reement with th e Editor-in-Chief forthe other articles.

Figures and Tables

Every colour figure will be included in the electronic version (ScienceDirect),but wil l be printed in black and white in t he paper version. Colour prin tingmay b e ex ceptionally al lowed by t he Editor-in-Chief, wh en colo ur isnecessary to highlight the information present in the figure. Figures must befree of c opyright. If re-using a figure al ready published, the au thorization ofthe publisher of the original article is necessary, for the paper publication aswell as for electronic publishing.

References

References should be numbered in square brackets in the order of appearencein the text, and presented in the following format:

Conventions and abbreviations

Abbreviations should be defined in brackets the first time they are used in thetext, with the exception of standard abbreviations, such as BCS or RPA (a listcan be f ound a t: http://www.aip.org/pubservs/style/4thed/appd.pdf). Units,symbols and nomenclature should follow international conventions. Standardunits of measure and chemical symbols do not need to be defined in the text

(the format m/s or m s1are both acceptable, but sh ould not be both used inthe same article).

Formulas and equations

Equations, mathematical and c hemical formulas should be clearly presented;in particular, care should be taken with subscripts and exponents (use x1andnot x1); Am biguous exp ressions sho uld b e avo ided, su ch as 1/2x, whi chshould be writ ten either 1(2x) or (1/2)x. A given quantity should always begiven the same symbol, for example a le ngthL(written in italics) should not

be called L el sewhere. I t is a dvisable t o use standard typography. Forexample, mathematical and physical quantities, such as an axis x, or mass m,are in italics. Thusx+ 1 is distinguished fromx+ l, and the logarithm ln fromthe productln.

b) Figures, illustrations, graphics and tables

For figures and illustrations, please use TIFF, EPS o r JPEG (high-resolution)format; the resolution should be s ufficient for the print size required. Figuresincluded in text files (such as Word) are di fficult to use. For graphics: pleaseuse TIFF or high-resolution EPS; graphics included in text files are difficult touse a nd s hould be converted to E PS using a n a ppropriate pr int driver.Documents from other sources, such as Power Point should be stored as TIFFor EPS.For tables: please use Word or Excel only (unless manuscript is in LaTeX).

Proofs will be directly sent to the corresponding author, generally via e-mail,with the co rrection in structions, cop yright-transfer and o ffprint-order forms.Corrections m ade to pro ofs s hould only be ty pographical. They must becommunicated as soon as pos sible to the e-m ail add ress ind icated in th emessage accompanying the proof.

OffprintsAuthors will rec eive free of charge an e lectronic offprint of th eir arti cle (inPDF format) and w ill be g iven the opportunity to order pa per copies at theirown expense (send the order form with the proof corrections).

Depuis le 1 erjanvier 2009, les Comptes rendus Physique ne publient que desarticles rdigs sur invitation de lAcadmie des Sciences.Certains de ces articles sont destins faire partie dun fascicule thmatiquecoordonn p ar un rdacteur invit. Ces t alors lui qu e les auteurs doiventremettre leur manuscrit.Dautres articles sont crits sur invitation dun membre ou correspondantde lAcadmie des sciences, avec laccord du rdacteur en chef. Cest alors aurdacteur e n ch ef de s Comptes rendus Physique que les au teurs doiventremettre leur manuscrit (via le site de soumission en ligne, voir ci-dessous).Les articles sont examins par deux arbitres dsigns par le rdacteur en chefou le rdacteur invit. Les secrtaires perptuels, directeurs de la publication,dcident en dernier ressort de l'acceptation des articles.

3) Dispositions communes aux articles crits sur invitation dun membreou dun correspondant de lAcadmie des sciences et aux articles destins un fascicule thmatique

LangueLes art icles seront rd igs de prfrence en angl ais. Certain s lments sont

bilingues. Si l a traduct ion en fran ais d es lments f ournir dans l es deuxlangues prsente une difficult, elle pourra tre assure par la rdaction.

CompositionLes articles doivent comporter :

un titre en franais et en anglais (le plus concis possible) ;les noms et prnoms des auteurs en toutes lettres ;ladresse pos tale de chacun des auteurs ou son affi liation, l e n umro detlphone et de tlcopie, l'adresse lectronique de l'auteur correspondant ;un rsum en franais et en anglais (100 mots maximum) ;

une liste de mots cls (7 au maximum) en franais et en anglais ;le texte de larticle ;

les remerciements (facultatifs 3 lignes maximum) ;les tableaux et figures, avec lgendes en franais et en anglais ;

les rfrences (voir ci-aprs).

LongueurLa longueur recommande est de 10 pages imprimes au maximum.Une pageimprime quivaut en moyenne 5000 signes lettres, symboles ou espaces ;une figure quivaut au minimum un quart de page, soit 1 250 caractres. Lalongueur ne sera dpasse qu'avec l'accord du rdacteur invit dans le cas des

articles destins un fa scicule thm atique ou , dans l e cas des articles su rinvitation dun membre ou dun correspondant, du rdacteur en chef.

Figures et tableauxToute figure en couleur sera diffuse telle quelle sur Internet (ScienceDirect).Elle devra tre conue en vue dune publication sur papier en noir et blanc.Limpression en co uleur po urra t re au torise, ti tre ex ceptionnel, par lerdacteur en ch ef, si el le est in dispensable l a mise en v idence de tout lecontenu informatif de l a figure. Les figures doivent tre li bres d e droits. Encas d e rutilisation d une figu re d j publie, l autorisation de lditeur d elarticle o riginal es t ncessaire, au ssi bi en pour la rep roduction su r papierquen format lectronique.

RfrencesElles doivent tre numrotes entre crochets, dans leur ordre d'apparition dansle texte, et tre prsentes ainsi :

Prparation lectronique des articles Logiciels utiliser

a) Texte

i) Pour les art icles ne comportant pas de formules ou caractresmathmatiques les logiciels souhaits sont : Word 5.0 ou versions ultrieuresou LaTeX. Formats des fichiers : .RTF, .DOC ou .TEX.ii) P our les ar ticles com portant d es f ormules mathmatiques : u tiliser de

prfrence les logiciels, TeX, P lain Tex, LaTeX ; ve ntuellement, AMS-Texet TeXTURE. Form ats de s f ichier s : doc ument TeX avec m acroscorrespondantes (viter le format DVI).Les fichiers Word utilisant l'diteur d'quations ne sont pas recommands, cause d es r isques d'incompatibilit en tre les diffrentes p lates-formes ouversions.

b) Graphiques, illustrations et tableauxLes graphiques et illustrations seront de prfrence auw formats TIFF, EPS ouJPEG h aute dfinition (rso lution m inimale : 400 dp i), EPS (n on app ropriaux images contenant du texte), Adobe Ph otoshop et Ill ustrator. viter lesdocuments sous Power Point. Les figures doivent tre fournies dans le fichiernatif. La rso lution d evra t re suffisante pou r l impression (proscrireabsolument les images de qualit cran , en 72 dpi).Les tableaux seront de fo rmat W ord ou Excel uniquement (sau f manuscritscomposs sous LaTeX).

Les auteurs recevront gratuitement un tir la suite lectronique de leur article(en f ormat PD F) et po urront obtenir des e xemplaires papier le urs fra is(renvoyer un bon de commande avec les corrections dpreuves).
