Although I have probably seen everything in carpfishing I sometimes stumble onto some new ingredients that really make the difference. Manny rumors were spread about this liquid and although I was probably the first European to receive a couple of bottles I, as an quit down to earth person from Groningen, had to see it for myself before I would believe anything. Because I was quite limited in time I wasnt able to prepare anything which suited me very well. If this stuff had any real attraction it should work in any given situation. During the time we made our Video I was able to test it against some very powerful attractors that had proven their strength to me on many occasions.

The liquid named The Goo was used by the South African carp team and had according to them resulted in the fourth successive Word Cup carp angling gold medal. The members of the team werent very tactical and technical anglers so it had to be luck, an powerful bait or something else that gave them the advantage. One thing was certain, they began their gold rush after the arrival of one man: Loutjie Louwies. The English team with their captain Pete Holehouse (number 1 on the world ranking list of best match angler) had to accept their fourth defeat and were left beaten, disappointed and with a lot of questions. If this wasnt enough, the South African team had caught three times more carp.

I could only use it in short sessions. The first one was with Ali Hamidi. We fished on a French public lake. Although the water temperature was very low and the lake looked more dead than alive we both caught carp from two different swims after using the green liquid on our baits. What amazed us was the fact that the results came quicker the longer we used the stuff. Luck or something else?

Bait freak,As a real bait freak I wanted to know everything; so I asked the people behind The Goo (Loutjie Louwies, Ian Huntington) during their presentation in the UK some tough questions about this secret liquid. First I wanted to know what made this liquid so special and secondly if there were any dangers for the water or fish when this liquid would be used in huge quantities. They assured me that this was not the case and I really shouldnt have to worry. The liquid was made out of natural ingredients that were not harmful to carp even if they digested it. My first question wasnt answered, so I was still kept in the dark. I can understand why they werent telling me, Looutjie Louwies had spent many years of research and a lot of money in development. Well this could only mean that I should investigate myself how to use the stuff under the given circumstances. This was the only way I could use its full potential.

During the presentation we were told that they had developed two liquids: the first one was Bait Smoke, a liquid with a low viscosity that primarily should be used for hookbaits. This liquid will draw deep into the bait and releases its attraction for a very long time. The second liquid is called Power Smoke, which will stay more on the surface of a bait and releases a visible vertical taste and smell cloud. By combining these two liquids, they said, you would attract carp from different layers in the water towards your bait after some time.

Visual taste explosion,One thing that really had my attention was the visibility of the liquid. Especially in spring or in times when carp are rarely feeding this could be a main advantage compared with other attractors. I began, together with other team members, experimenting with this green taste sensation and used it to boost foam that I used for my zigs and pop-ups made out of cork or plastic. What impressed me was the fact that I had my runs on a regular basis even in a prebaited swim; this mend that the carp had no problems in finding and accepting the liquid although they had eaten different food for a couple of days in advance. When I used The Goo in the early moth of the year I boosted my pva stick with it. The stick consisted of some grounded sinking boilies and pop-ups. The grounded pop-ups combined with the green liquid would rise very slowly towards the surface and attract carp in higher water levels towards my bait. With The Goo Bait smoke I had quicker results and caught carp that I would certainly never had caught considering the limited amount of time that I had to go fishing. This confirmed my feelings about the

curiosity and how carp feed during the colder periods of the year. Despite these very positive early results I find it always very hard to draw quick conclusions.

Matchanglers,That was the reason why I wanted to know how The Goo would change results when used in match angling. Because I am in the situation that I can contact some of the most respected match anglers I was informed by their results after using the liquid on a weekly basis. Especially In matches that receive a lot of attention from press and other matchanglers, you should realy know what you are doing. These anglers can tell you if some ingredient will work. They are even able to pinpoint the best time of using it, the volume that can be used, the time it normally would take to receive results and the extension time, meaning the time it takes before an attractor or ingredient would lose the advantage when used by more and more anglers on the same lake or stretch of river. So I wasnt surprised when I received following message: one of the match angels which had been put in a very bad swim, to say the least, caught almost nothing until the last half hour. He then boosted his hookbait and method feeder with The Goo and caught 23 kilo of bream and roach, enough for first place.It is very important that the fish will not be stuffed with groundbait during a match but only be attracted and stimulated to feed in a swim. This was the reason that certain matchanglers would start to build up their swim with groundbait in combination with The Goo and then only used The Goo to hold the fish which in turn could only find the hookbait as a food item Another very interesting lesson was the fact that the use of a different flavor could make the day. Be prepared to experiment and never take anything for granted. Fact is; that the Goo cloud will attract fish to your swim very quickly, the fish will not be filled with food items and therefore stay longer.

Usage,The Goo is very simple to use, Pva friendly and can be applied in layers when dried, leaving you with a hook bait that will attract for many hours. You can also soak your ground bait with it. A simple trick is to use a plastic bag. Pour the liquid together with some water in the plastic bag; add your groundbait (particles, etc.). Shake well and leave it for a while then shake it again. This tip can be devastating in waters where particles have been used extensively. When soaking my hookbaits, I always use The Goo straight from the bottle, let it dry for a couple of days and soak it again. This really makes a difference. There is one drawback when dealing with The Goo. If you are too eager with this liquid it can end up over your hands or cloths, so always have a separate towel at hand.

Miricle liquid?There are no such things as miracles. The Goo is a product that will produce an enormous visual cloud of smell and taste, which can make, when used in the right situations, the difference between success and failure. I would use it when
