Our expertise in the eld o PE-Xa is the result o

decades o experience. We have been producing PE-Xa

pipes or more than 35 years now. From the beginnings

until today, our output has topped the mark o 2.5

billion meters o PE-Xa pipes. This is a record that tells

its own tale.

What is the dierence between Uponor Pe-Xa pipes and

conventional PE-X pipes? It s the memory and shrink-

back eect o the PE-Xa material. Ater bending or

expanding the pipe goes back to the original location.

The Uponor PE-Xa pipes are high-pressure crosslinkedwhich reaches the highest linking actor o all crosslink-

ing methods.

Thereore they are fexible and have a good abrasion

resistance to tough onsite conditions. Uponor pipes

withstand high pressure and temperature changes. They

can be delivered with and without conduits, but the use

in conduits has many advantages. In case someone drills

into the pipe, the assembly time is signicantly reduced

when using a conduit. The pipe itsel is also protected

against damages, while the conduit also works as insu-

lation and thereore reduces heat loss.

During the production process o Uponor PE-Xa pipes

molecules with high density are linked together creating

a three-dimensional network. Bodycote Polymer AB

Sweden, an independent testing institute, has carried

out pressure testing on more than 3,000 specimen or

Uponor since 1973, which are still running. The condi-

tions o the temperature cycling test are as ollows: 15

minutes at 20 C, then change to 95 C water or 15

minutes and vice-versa. No problems whatsoever have

occured so ar. Due to the crosslinking process, the

Uponor PE-Xa pipes sustain their excellent thermal and

mechanical eatures which make it the rst choice or

tap water and radiator connection installations.

The outstanding material characteristics o Uponor

PE-Xa pipes also have a major bearing on the connec-

tion techniques used. Our simple but ingenious system

lets you produce pressure-sealed, durable joints in just

25 seconds. Our innovation makes use o the shrinking

back eect, which is only valid or crosslinked PE-Xa

pipes. The pipe ends are tted with a Q&E ring, ex-

panded and then pushed onto a special system tting

made o metal or the advanced PPSU (polyphenylsul-

one) plastic material. The material then remembers

the shape it had beore being widened, and contracts

back to its original orm. This provides a long-term seal

between the pipe and the tting. The connection be-

comes rm and immovable ater just a ew seconds at

room temperature.

We are oering most modern system technology with

the Uponor PPSU tting. This tting is made o ad-

vanced polyphenylsulone plastic material. High tem-

perature and pressure resistance, high strength and

suitability or its use with particularly aggressive water

are the key advantages o the Uponor PPSU tting.

Nowadays we oer also PPSU ttings with male and

emale thread as well as PPSU maniolds with male

thread. Furthermore, our new PPSU ttings with swivel

nut in dimensions 16 to 25 mm or the connection to

maniolds, pumps etc. are now available. In general

PPSU material is also used or medical purposes to sani-

tise medical appliances. For all our Uponor Quick & Easy

threaded metal ttings as well as Uponor clamp ttings,

special brass alloys are used.

Our Quick & Easy ttings made o PPSU are now avail-

able or all sizes rom 16 up to 63 mm.

The threaded metal ttings are made o a brass alloy

CW614N. The chemical composition is according to EN

(European norm) 12164:1998. Forged parts are made

o brass alloy CW617N. The chemical composition is

according to EN 12165:1998.

The Uponor clamp ttings or dimension 25 up to 110

mm are made o dezincication resistant brass. The

modular system consists o a basic body and individual

connection parts. The design o the outer sleeve allows

or a good grip with even orce around the pipe, while

the inner sleeve with its O-ring assures a good tight seal.

These eatures allow an easy installation.

The basic prinicple o the maniold

system is to provide joint ree pipeinstallations rom the maniold

fow. This allows or isolated pipe

In order to prevent corrosion o the heating system

and ttings, Uponor eval PE-Xa pipes are coated with

an EVOH resin. This additional plastic layer prevents

the diusion o oxygen into the hot-water circuit. The

barrier layer has been specially designed to meet the

requirements o the Uponor Quick & Easy connectionsystem. Uponor eval PE-Xa pipes are ideal to connect

radiators and other components to the heating system.
