SY4527 and SY5527 The New Universal Multichannel Power Supply Systems

1. Key features of the new mainframes

Modularity, Compatibility, Connectivity, Usabilityand Robustness are the keywords of the new systemdesign. The System has been specically designedto power the variety of detectors found in modernPhysics Experiments, such as photomultipliers, wirechambers, streamers tubes, silicon detectors and soon. The system is modular and exible enough tobe appropriate both for major experiments wherea large number of channels must be remotelycontrolled, and for test laboratories where simplemanual operations on a limited number of channelsare often desired.

The new line consists of two different mainframeversions:

The SY4527 is a 19 wide / 8U high mainframe and

can house up to 16 boards, to which it can providea power up to 4.2 kW.

The compact version SY5527 is 19 wide / 4Uhigh mainframe and can house up to 6 boards, towhich it can provide a power up to 1.8 kW.

Electronic InstrumentationCAEN

The power supply section is made of modular and easy-to-replaceunits.

The control section is based on a completely re-designed CPUmodule, which is also easily replaceable by the user, and availablein three versions, BASIC, ADVANCED and FULL, to best t the clientsrequirements.

The control can be done both REMOTELY (via Gigabit Ethernetor optionally via Wi-Fi) and LOCALLY (via an optional Colour Touchscreen LCD).

The new backplane is fully-compatible with all the boards developedfor the previous SY1527/SY2527 including power supply boards,distributor boards and branch controllers. The backplane also now

features FLEXRAY bus for high speed communication.

A completely new Software with graphical user interface has beendeveloped: it permits to set and monitor all the parameters ofthe system and of the installed boards. This software permits tocontrol the mainframe locally when installed on the TouchscreenLCD display and remotely when installed on a PC or on a TABLET. The connection can be done by Gigabit Ethernet or via Wi-Fi.A new set of additional features is also available including ALARMING,LOGGING and SCRIPTING (this set is optional).

Both the new mainframes are available in the PREMIUM edition,which includes all the options: Touchscreen Display, Wi-Ficonnectivity and the Advanced software capabilities.

Main Features:

Today CAEN offers its New Universal Multichannel Power Supply Systems in the Premium Version ,a unique package including all the available options at an attractive price.

The Premium Version is available as an ordering option of both the SY4527 and SY5527 and itfeatures:

10,4 LCD Touchscreen (5.7 for SY 5527) Full Version of the CPU, providing the complete set of panel connectors

Advanced Control Software with ALARMING, LOGGING and SCRIPTING capabilities

Wi-Fi capability for remote wireless control

A complete family of HV and LV board is available for the new System

High Voltage boards withcompletely independent channels:from 6 to 32 channels, from 100 V to15 kV (A15xx family).

High Voltage Distributor boards upto 48 channels with IndependentCurrent Monitor (A2932/A2935).

Low Voltage boards from 4.5 V to 15 Vwith Remote Sensing Lines tocompensate for the voltage dropover the connection cables.

2. A4528 CPU Modules There are 3 different CPU modules for SY4527/SY5525: Basic, Advanced, Full.

3. Power Supplies There are 3 different power supply modules for SY4527/SY5527:

Note: In SY4527 the max number of PSU which can be installed is 4 (1 Primary and 3 Optional). In case the SY4527 is equipped with LCD display the max number is 2 (1 Primary and 1 Optional).In SY5527 the max number of PSU which can be installed is 2 (1 Primary and 1 Optional).

Primary PSU - 600 W Optional Single PSU - 600 W Optional Double PSU - 1200 W

Primary Power Supply: it is thebasic block and it includes theSERVICE PSU and the 600 WPSU for boards in a single slot

module. Each System includesone Primary Power Supply600 W.

Optional Single Power SupplyUnit: this PSU adds 600 W ofpower in a single slot module. This is an optional item to be

ordered separately.

4. Software and Connectivity The new Control Software with advanced functionalities (Logging,Scripting, Alerting) allows the user to fully control the system, settingand monitoring all the parameters. Its innovative graphical userinterface can be customized to suit theneeds of the operator.A Web Con guratorallows the user toaccess the system fromthe Local Network.

Gigabit Ethernet and Wi-Ficonnectivity permit to remotelycontrol SY4527 and SY5527 via awired LAN or any Wi-Fi enableddevice.

The embedded TouchscreenDisplay allows the user to directlymonitor and set all the parametersof interest on the system withoutthe need of an external PC.

New Mechanics The completely redesigned mechanics is available in two robust versions: a largesystem able to house up to 16 boards (SY4527) or a more compact one able to houseup to 6 boards (SY5527) to t the needs of both big experiments and smaller setups.

New CPU The control section is based on acompletely new CPU module. It isavailable in three different versions:

New Power Supply Three different Power Supply Unitsallow the user to expand the basic600W power supply up to 4200W(1800W per SY5527).

New Safety The new systems furtherimproves the alreadyexcellent safety featuresprovided in the previousmodels adding a fuse tothe 2 pole circuit breaker.

New Control The system can be controlled eitherLOCALLY, via the new TouchscreenLCD, or REMOTELY via GigabitEthernet or Wi-Fi connection. Webbased control is also provided.
