The month of March witnessed a very

    auspicious festival associated with Lord

Siva and Paravathi. Called the Masi

Magam which fell on 11th March 2017. On

this day we will be able to experience Lord

    Nadaraja’s“ Hydration Ceremony.” Which

means on this day Lord Nadaraja

transform his potent energy into kinetic

energy to sustain all the energy needed

    for the world.

The day marked by the brightest star in

Leo constellation, Magha star, in the Tamil

month of Masi is when special cosmic

energy fills the earth plane, enabling you

to rejuvenate your body and purify the

souls of your ancestors. This once-in-a-

year event can help you increase your

    prosperity and royalty consciousness as

the star energy of the day carries the

qualities of a King. It also helps you seek

the blessings of your ancestors as the

presiding deity of the star is Pitris

(ancestors). On this month we also will

witness the Maha Kumbamela Festival in

India. More that 200 million people will

gather to seek the blessings of Lord Siva.

The Mandram carried out its function at

the TUDM Sivan temple. For the first time

children from Anbu Illam and Karunai

Illam came in full force to participate. The

public we very surprised to see the home

children well behaved and showed high

discipline. The boys from Anbu Illam were

given the opportunity to represent the

Mandram at the Homa ceremony. Many

people came to know of the homes for

the first time. About hundred people

    attended the functions. There was

Theveram Musical solo recital by Othuvar

    Manisegar from Klang. The people

enjoyed the one hour musical recital.

Wish to thank Mr. Bala, Klang SSMM

    Chairman for sponsoring the solo

    performance.

Come April 14th every Hindu will be

celebrating the Hindu New Year based on

    the Tiruvalluvar Calendar. This celebration

will also coincide with the new year for

the Malayalees and Telengus and the

Sikhs. Though its not on the same day,

they all fall next to each other. This itself

will reflect the unity and diversity of the

Hindus as one huge family. The New

Calendar is also being sold in temples and

book shops. Ensure you get the correct

calendar which is authentic and is in

    accordance with our Hindu astrology.

I believe every Hindu is waiting for this big

day to come. Today we see many young

    Indian business entrepreneurs taking the

challenges to venture into business. It’s a

healthy sign. The economic cake of the

Indians in Malaysia will increase. There

are many good souls who are very

successful in their business, have come

out in the open to help, guide and advice

how to go about in business. The

    Government has also been very

supportive to see that Indians rise in the

national economic sector. Those who wish

    EDITORIAL

  • 3

to go into business has a bright future and

today we have the help of many NGOs

who are out there to help any Indian who

is ready to venture. At the same time one

needs to seriously plan well, seek advice

and knowledge from those who have

already succeeded, so that you will not fail

in your mission. The path is a very hard

struggle and you might not get the help

and support of your family members. But

what is very important is you vision, goals,

objectives proper planning and start small

so that even if you fail you will be able to

rise again. If we have many young Indian

    entrepreneurs who can become

successful, these good souls will be able

to contribute some of their profits to the

poor and needy Hindu community. Lets

pray that they achieve their success in life.

To the others, whatever jobs you are

doing try to excel in your career . Find

ways and means to upgrade your

qualifications so that you can seek

promotions and also seek better job

    opportunities. Today in Malaysia

education is available to all ages and sex.

The question is whether we want to excel

in our life or not is your choice. Malaysian

Indians are showing keen interest in the

    development of the Indian community,

but sad to say there are still many

youngsters who are taking things so

lightly, that they are left behind from the

nations development. Its going to be very

difficult for them to compete, if they are

not prepared to rise and move forward. I

see there are many Indian NGO’s who are

waiting to help the people, but many do

not show interest do their needs and

parents are totally disinterested in their

children future. Lets join hands and help

those who are lost in the wilderness,

because they are also part of our big

    family.

Wishing all Hindus a prosperous and

fruitful new year to come. May Lord Siva

shower his blessings to all our members

and their families, and the community as

    a whole.

    MASI MAGHAM

Article Complied by N.Thiruvasagam, M.A, BBA, Dip.SaivaSiddhanta, Annamalai University

MYTHOLOGY: SIGNIFICANCE OF MASI MAGHAM According to the scriptures, when Brahma (Creator God) understood Lord Shiva’s plan to recreate the universe after destruction, he asked about the methodology to recreate the world. Lord Shiva asked Brahma to fill a Kumba (pot) filled with amrita (Nectar of Honey) and the source energy for creating the world and to place it at the top of mount Meru. He instructed Brahma to start his activity of creating the world from the place where he finds the pot after a great deluge. Brahma requested to begin his creation activity from the place named Kumbakonam (sacred temple city in Southern India) on a Magha star day in the Tamil month of Masi. This festival is known as Maha Kumbamala, occurs every four years once and twelve years one in India. About 200 million people will gather

at one place to witness the festival. The Adi Sankarapeedam in Indian will lead the ceremonial rites for this great occasion.

BENEFITS OF MASI MAGHAM CEREMONY According to the scriptures, Lord Shiva blessed the Masi Magha day as one of the best days to access the duo blessings of Himself and Goddess Parvati, his consort. On this day, you can also empower yourself with the energy of Magha, which is ideal to offer prayers and remove any negative, troublesome energy which may be due to a lack of positive blessings from ancestors. According to the sacred texts, the following blessings can be obtained by participating in Masi Magham rituals: i) Taking a dip in the holy river washes way your sins and bad karma. (According to the mythology, on this day, River Goddess Ganga purifies all water sources)

ii) Happiness and peace of mind

iii) Good health, wealth and knowledge

iv) Get rid of curses by mistreating priests and learned Vedic pandits

    v) Cleanse negative energy and fill your life with positivity

vi) Receive the blessings of your ancestors

PLANETARY SUPPORT FOR THE DAY Moon will be in the sign Leo, transiting

the star Magha ruled by Ketu. The

    symbolic representation of the Magha

star is a Throne, which represents royalty

and royalty consciousness. On this day,

Mercury joins the exalted Venus in Pisces,

the sign ruled by Jupiter, creating Neecha

    Banga Raja Yoga (Cancellation of

    Debilitation). Exchange of signs between

Mercury (in Pisces) and Jupiter (in Virgo,

    FEATURE

sign ruled by Mercury) forms Parivarthana

    Yoga (Auspicious Exchange of house).

Moreover, association of the King and

Queen of the planets, the Sun and the

Moon with the sign Leo makes it an ideal

day to amplify your prosperity, fame,

royal blessings and set high goals and

    ambition in life. The planetary

combination of the day also helps you to

get rid of your negative ego and enhance

    your leadership and decision makings

Lord Siva is God, whose Absolute Being, Parasiva, transcends time, form and space.

God, whose immanent nature of love, Parashakti, is the substratum, primal substance or pure consciousness flowing through all form as energy, existence, knowledge and bliss.

Lord Siva is God, whose immanent nature is the Primal Soul, Supreme Mahadeva, Paramesvara, author of Vedas and Agamas, the creator, preserver and destroyer of all that exists.

Three worlds: the gross plane, where souls take on physical bodies; the subtle plane, where souls take on astral bodies; and the causal plane, where souls exist in their self-effulgent form.
