Trèanadh Gàidhlig ‘Bookbug’ ann am mead-han na h-AlbaTha sinn an-dràsta ag obrachadh le Urras Leabhraichean na h-Alba airson làithean trèanaidh a chur air dòigh airson Bookbug sa Ghàidhlig ann am meadhan na dùthcha. Bheir seo an cothrom don sgeama Bookbug Gàidhlig leu-dachadh, a’ toirt an cothrom don dà chuid clann is pàrantan ùine a chur seachad ag ionnsachadh Gàidhlig tro leughadh is cluiche fhad ’s a tha iad air am bogadh ann an Gàidhlig.

Gaelic Bookbug training in the central beltWe are currently working with the Scottish Book Trust to arrange Gaelic Book Bug training days within the Central Belt. This will allow the expansion of the Gaelic Book Bug scheme, which allows both children and parents to spend time learning Gaelic through reading and play while experiencing Gaelic immersion.

Sgeama Comhairleachaidh PhàrantTha sinn a’ beachdachadh air an sgeama seo a leudachadh gu sgìrean eile agus bu toil leinn cluinntinn bho phàrantan sam bith aig am biodh ùidh. Tha barrachd fiosrachaidh mun sgeama ri fhaotainn air ar làrach-lìn —

Parental Advisor schemeWe are looking to expand this scheme to new areas and would like to hear from any parents who might be inter-ested. There is more information on the scheme available on our website —

Sgoil Ghàidhlig ùr ann an Loch Abar Thug e toileachas mòr dhuinn a bhith a’ faicinn sgoil Ghàidhlig ga fosgladh ann an Loch Abar aig toiseach na bliadhna sgoile ùir. ’S e ceum air leth mòr a tha seo agus tha sinn a’ guidhe soirbheachas do gach pàiste is pàrant airson na h-ama ri teachd. Tha an dàrna sgoil Ghàidhlig ann an Glaschu, ‘Gleann Dail’ an dùil fosgladh nas fhaide air a’ bhliadhna seo agus tha iadsan a chaidh a chlàradh an-dràsta a’ faighinn oideachadh ann an Sgoil Ghàidhlig Ghlaschu ach ann an sruth fa leth.

New Gaelic School in LochaberIt was exciting to see the new Gaelic school opening in Lochaber in time for the beginning of the new school year. This is a great step forward and we wish all the children and parents well with this new endeavour. The second Glasgow Gaelic School, Glendale is due to be opened later this year and those enrolled are currently being taught at the Glasgow Gaelic School but within a separate stream.

Angela Constance BPABha sinn toilichte fàilte a chur air Angela Constance, Ministear an Fhoghlaim is Ionnsachadh Fad-beatha, gu seisean Bookbug ann an Ulapul air latha coinneamh a’ chaibineit. Thug e toileachas dhi a bhith a’ faicinn cho mòr sa bha a’ chlann an sàs sa ghnìomh agus ghabh i cuideachd com-pàirt ann seinn de na h-òrain Ghàidhlig, Bha e air leth math an cothrom fhaighinn an seisean seo a chur air dòigh, le cuideachadh bho Lewis Laing bho Bhòrd na Gàidhlig, gus sealltainn dhan Mhinistear beagan den obair a tha a’ dol air adhart nar coimhearsnachdan gus bogadh ann an Gàidhlig agus cluiche a thabhann do chloinn bho aois gu math òg.

Angela Constance MSPWe were pleased to welcome Angela Constance, Minister for Education and Lifelong Learning, to a Bookbug session

in Ullapool on the day of the Cabinet meeting. She was pleased to see the involvement of the children in the activity and even joined us for some Gaelic songs. It was great to be able to run this session with the help of Lewis Laing, Bòrd Na Gàidhlig, and show the Minister the work that is on-going in our communities to provide children with Gaelic immersion and play from a young age.

Cluich Bruidhinn Leugh agus Leugh Sgrìobh CunntChaidh Leugh Sgrìobh Cunnt a chur air bhog san Lùnastal am bliadhna airson a dhol an cois Cluich Bruidhinn Leugh, leis an amais ‘buileachadh àrdachadh airson gach neach’. Tha sinn an-dràsta ag obrachadh leis an Riaghaltas airson na goireasan a tha rim faotainn ann an Gàidhlig fon dà sgeama a leasachadh às ùr. Cumaibh sùil a-mach airson goireasan ùra, inntinneach a bhios rim faighinn ann an Gàidhlig a dh’aithghearr - http://www.readwritecount.scot/why/.

Play Talk Read and Read Write CountRead Write Count was launched in August this year as an accompaniment to Play Talk Read with its aim being to ‘raise attainment for all’. We are currently working with the Government to further develop the resources that are available in Gaelic under both schemes. So watch this space for lots of exciting new resources soon to be available in Gaelic - http://www.readwritecount.scot/why/.

Thig a chluichÀs dèidh iarrtas maoineachaidh shoirbheachail, tha a’ phròiseact ‘Thig a Chluich’ ga ruith gu soirbheachail ann an diofar phàirtean de Leòdhas. Tha na seiseanan air an roinn eadar àm cluiche saor agus seisean Bookbug, agus a’ toirt cothrom do chloinn is phàrantan ùine a chur seachad ann an àrainneachd Ghàidhlig cho math ro bhith a’ tabhann fiosrachadh mu Fhoghlam Meadhan Gàidhlig air pàrantan. Bha e na adhbhar misneachd a bhith a’ faicinn uibhir an làthair air an latha a thadhail sinn orra, agus tha sinn an dùil na seiseanan seo a leudachadh airson àiteachan eile a ghabhail a-steach.

Thig a chluichFollowing a successful funding application the ‘Thig a chluich’ project is running well in various location on Lewis. These sessions are divided into free play and a book bug session and provide the children and parents with an opportunity to spend time in a Gaelic environment as well as giving parents access to information on Gaelic Medium Education. It was encouraging to see the large numbers in attendance at the session we visited and we are looking to expand these sessions elsewhere.

Còirichean Ionnsachadh Tràth is Cùram Chloinne San Lùnastal 2014 chaidh cur às dhan chòir airson ‘foghlam fo aois sgoile” do chloinn aois 3-5 agus thàinig còir nas fharsainge, shùbailte a-steach airson ‘ionnsachadh tràth is cùram chloinne’ (ELLC). Tha an còir ùr seo a’ tabhann solar suas gu 600 uair a thìde de ionnsachadh tràth is cùram chloinne an-asgaidh do gach pàiste eadar 3 is 5 bliadhna agus airson cuid a tha dà bhliadha dh’aois. Tha atharrachaidhean ann an slatan-tomhais airson solar do chloinn aois 2 a’ ciallachadh, bho Lùnastal 2015, gum bi barrachd chloinne aois 2 a-nis airidh air 600 uairean a thìde de ionnsachadh tràth is cùram chloinne an-asgaidh. Gheibh sibh a-mach tuilleadh mu ionnsachadh tràth is cùram chloinne, a bheil ur pàiste airidh air àite, agus mar a nì sibh tagradh air a shon air làrach-lìn ùr bhon Riaghaltas - http://www.earlylearningandchildcare.scot/

Early Learning and Childcare Entitlement

In August 2014 the entitlement to ”pre-school education” for 3-5 year olds was replaced with a new extended, more flexible entitlement to “early learning and childcare” (ELCC). The new entitlement provided for up to 600 hours of free early learning and childcare for all 3-5 year olds

and certain two year olds. Changes to the criteria for two year old places mean that from August 2015 more two year olds will now be eligible for 600 hours of free early learning and childcare. You can find out more about early learning and childcare, whether your child is eligible, and how to apply on a new Scottish Government website - http://www.earlylearningandchildcare.scot/
