Faced with a potentially catastrophic disruption of operations in the event of a power outage, Alltel has taken an aggressive approach to maintaining sufficient standby power by contracting for a scalable backup power system. With KOHLER backup generators now standing by to carry a full load in the event of a power outage, and with a scalable path to future expansion, the Alltel Data Center is now virtually uninterruptible. Continuing monthly, quarterly and annual checks of the KOHLER generators and switchgear with their own load bank ensure future reliability. As a second backup, portable KOHLER generators are also avail- able from RP Power in the event of any unanticipated event requiring an emergency response at Alltel.
