I would like to thank all of the supporters and partners of AIESEC Canada for your continued commitment to developing global youth leadership. The 2015-16 year has been a successful year, as we’ve continued to provide meaningful and relevant experiential learning opportunities to over 2200 Canadian youth across the country.
Notable accomplishments this year saw the completion of the 2020 Strategic Plan, where we solidified AIESEC Canada’s aspiration to accelerate the creation of global leaders and to be the leading youth voice to business in Canada. We also increased our focus on customer centricity that resulted both in the growth of the number of students that went abroad and the number of contracts signed with Canadian companies to bring international talent to their workforce.
We’re pleased that our Platinum and Gold Partners continue to leverage their support of AIESEC Canada through meaningful engagement opportunities with our membership. This includes Export Development Canada (EDC) leading a trade simulation session at one of our national conferences and Cenovus stepping up as our title sponsor for the Youth to Business Forum. In addition, we welcomed new partners such as Scotiabank who participated in our youth roundtable discussions and facilitated a workshop on the theme of global competencies.
In addition, AIESEC Canada strengthened our relationships with key partners outside of the corporate sector. We expanded our relationship with International Experience Canada within the federal government to align in our joint mission of providing quality global experiences to Canadian youth. We also developed our partnership with the Asia Pacific Foundation resulting in additional funding to provide scholarships to our outgoing program participants to develop skills and knowledge required to fuel the future success of the Asia region. These partnerships support our position in the value and need to develop global competencies in Canadian youth.

Dear readers, Thank you for opening the AIESEC Canada Inc. 2015-16 annual report. This past fiscal year came with immense challenges and opportunities for the organization as we strived to amplify our impact with over 2200 members in 30 top universities across the country. A simple vision guided our strategy and actions for the year: AIESEC for Canada. Challenging ourselves to create next-level impact. We focused on aligning what we did to what our country needed, challenged the status quo to enhance our operations, and shifted to a customer centric approach in the way we measured our success. What resulted was, truly, a next-level year for AIESEC Canada. For the first time in our history, we realized over 200 outgoing professional internships, 500 outgoing volunteer internships, and 100 incoming professional internships with a total of 815 lives impacted directly through our programs and a 20% year-over-year increase in programs revenue. We solidified our partnership with the federal government with their participation in our annual Youth to Business Forum which included a video endorsement from our Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau. Concurrently, we created the 2020 strategic plan to map our growth and strategic imperatives for the next five years. None of this would be possible without our amazing members, partners, and supporters. Thank you to everyone who was a part of this incredible journey for the endless support of AIESEC Canada and our dedication to the youth of this country. We are confident in this organization’s future to create a greater impact as we strive towards developing the leaders Canada needs, today and for the future. AIESEC is a global platform for young people to explore and develop their leadership potential. We are a non-political, independent, not-for-profit organisation. Its members are interested in world issues, leadership and management. AIESEC does not discriminate on the basis of ethnicity, gender, disability, sexual orientation, religion, creed, or national / social origin.
Since we were founded, we have engaged and developed over 1,000,000 young people who have been through an AIESEC experience. The impact of our organisation can be seen through our alumni who represent business, NGO, and world leaders. The organisation spans 127 countries and territories and every aspect of AIESEC’s operations is managed by students and recent graduates of institutions of higher education.

Along with the growth in number of experiences, we saw improvements in the Net Promoter Score for all three programs as we improved education and training on quality. As such, the strategies implemented during the year resulted in observable growth in both quantity and quality.
The 2015-16 fiscal year saw year-over-year growth in each of our core exchange programs as we strived for next-level impact. The exchange experiences delivered this year were as follows:

The AIESEC Global Talent Programme allows young people to develop their professional and technical skills by working in international workplaces. Our internships provide participants with the opportunity to explore different work environments, improve their skills and competencies related to their fields of study, all while magnified by an international cultural experience. This provides them the opportunity to grow a global network in their chosen field, while improving their global competences in both a professional and personal capacity.
Students who sign up to go abroad with our program become Exchange Participants (EPs) and are considered as EP Raised. Once they are matched with an opportunity abroad, they become an EP Matched. Finally, once they begin their internship abroad, they are an EP Realized.

AIESEC Canada was able to spend the year increasing operations to the Asia Pacific Region, in co-operation with the Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada (APF). Having received a $50,000 grant from APF, we were able to develop a number of initiatives designed to increase awareness of Asia-related skills and knowledge in young Canadians. With the goal of developing Asia competences among our participants, we ran several marketing initiatives, including sending a representative to meet with companies in Asia and promote Canadian talent. Through support from the grant and APF, we were able to send 221 Canadians to Asia this fiscal year, with 81 going on the Global Talent Programme and 142 going on the Global Citizen Programme.
Asia Pacific Foundation
Janilaine participated in a 4 month professional internship in the field of Management & Teaching, in Malaysia. Her internship consisted of managing a community center and developing programs for the people who visited the center, as well as managing daily operations for the center. In the course of her internship, Janilaine was able to connect with Malaysian culture on a daily basis while working to develop her professional skills for future employment.
“I always knew I wanted to go on a professional AIESEC exchange once I graduated because of the amazing people and impactful projects found within the network. During my time in Malaysia, I was able to meet so many like-minded individuals through my position as the Community Development Officer at SOLS 24/7 Malaysia. This position allowed me to manage a community centre, developing my managerial and administrative skills that can be easily transferred to other jobs.”

In order to address global issues, such as the improvement of education systems, awareness of climate change, and alleviation of poverty, AIESEC offers youth the opportunity to engage with the Global Citizen Programme. Our participants are able to develop an international outlook, while acting as ambassadors for Canada around the world. By engaging in emerging markets, and engaging with communities in need, they gain relevant personal and professional skills that they can use to face the challenges facing the world today.

Words from our Government
In May 2016, Allyson Fox went abroad to Varna, Bulgaria for the 17 Steps Project. The United Nations Association of Bulgaria partnered with AIESEC to provide the opportunity for Allyson and several other volunteers to visit Bulgaria in order to educate youth about the United Nation’s 17 Global Goals for Sustainable Development. Over the course of six weeks, Allyson worked in several high schools and with many classes, empowering youth to become active global citizens by using non-formal methods of teaching. Additionally, having the opportunity to live with a host family allowed for Allyson to be immersed into the Bulgarian culture, heritage and traditions. Working directly with youth abroad opened Allyson’s eyes to see the bright future that lies ahead for Bulgaria and our world.

I went into this experience with an open mind and minimal expectations, leaving the door open to new cultures, experiences, and opportunities. I will never regret the chance I took leaving my comfort zone because this experience has taught me more about myself than I could have ever learned elsewhere. AIESEC Canada continues to offer meaningful experiences to young people all around the world through short term placements with Canadian universities, NGOs, and corporations in the hopes of creating a more competitive Canada. We were able to offer 100 young people these opportunities through 6 week to 18 month placements in marketing, business, engineering, and information technology.
Our YouthWe were able to work with hundreds of Canadian youth in developing their personal and professional skills. Through their efforts, we have been able to engage with hundreds of companies in a professional context. The combination of sales, service delivery, and resilience we develop in young people has allowed us to give them the opportunity to further themselves as leaders.

Overview
Over the 2015-2016 term, AIESEC Canada has held 2 national conferences, 3 regional conferences, and 8 national summits on the national and regional level. Conferences are an integral part of our membership’s leadership development journey. Through an active engagement in our conferences, members enhance their soft-business skills by participating in thoughtful conversations with our partners and connecting with like-minded individuals from other chapters across Canada.

Functional SummitsOn top of the National Sales Program, which has provided intensive sales training to hundreds of members across the country, the 2015-2016 term saw a rise and focus on specific training and strategy co-creation amongst all the other functions of the organization. The Customer Experience Summit included training on how to provide a meaningful experience for the organization’s outgoing exchange participants throughout the whole exchange facilitation process. The Finance Summit tackled the changing face of the organization as it evolves its financial model. The Talent Management Summit placed clarity on the role of human resources within the local committee’s operations.
National Leadership MeetingFor the first time in recent history, AIESEC Canada held a National Leadership Meeting as a gathering of the three leadership bodies of the organization: the Member Committee, Local Committee Presidents, and National Support Team. This meeting allowed a meaningful strategic discussion on the operational health of the AIESEC Canada as a whole which results on the co-creation of a service delivery model. This model outlines the specific responsibilities of each leadership body towards the unified goal of AIESEC Canada for the 2015-2016 term.

The Canada Youth to Business Forum brought businesses and students together to engage in a unique dialogue on relevant topics for both Canadian businesses and student communities.
On May 6th, 2016, AIESEC Canada convened 350 student leaders from 30 universities across the country to collaborate with Canada’s top executives on two panels to address the question: “What competencies do Canadian Youth need to bring to the workforce?”
We hosted two keynotes, two panels, 12 workshops and 5 roundtables. Our delegates were able to learn from a diverse representation of industry while expressing their opinions. We were fortunate enough to have a video address from Hon. Catherine McKenna, Minister of Environment and Climate Change, as well as a video address and endorsement from Rt. Hon. Justin Trudeau, Prime Minister of Canada.

What we found:A key discussion point on the panel was on the role of Natural Resources in Canada's economy and youth's role with them. Points were brought up suggesting youth take time to engage themselves further with the major industries in Canada. Companies should also scale their investments in youth leadership, especially in regions where their business impacts the community.

What we found:Each Panelist brought a different perspective on personal finances for Canadian millennials. A key takeaway was that it is never too early to work on financial litera-cy and planning for your financial future. Structures in the education system need to empower young Canadians to take ownership of their finances to better prepare them for the future. Delegates were instructed to start thinking about where their money is going now and the importance of starting early. Students, regardless of whether or not they were interested in careers in the financial servic-es industry were told to explore their options in the financial services sector.

The Canadian Youth Voice survey aims to bridge the gap between education and industry. Young people are most affected by this gap, and have a responsibility to shape the future they want to see. By gathering the youth perspective on the state of Canada's education system and workplace culture, we are better able to shape the direction of Canada's economic and educational institutions. Youth will decide how out businesses are run. Youth will define how our education systems must change. Youth will determine what our organizations value.

"I have been in AIESEC for 3.5 years and every moment has been absolutely phenomenal. Having held multiple roles such as Exchange Participant Manager, Vice President of Operations and Local Committee President has really taught me invaluable life lessons that I feel privileged to be able to share with others today. To the membership, partners, and supporters of AIESEC,
One unique element that lies within the organization is the fact that the leadership body turnovers on an annual basis. The 2015-16 team has truly set the following term up for a brighter and more impactful AIESEC for Canada. The 2016-17 team is truly fortunate to be continuing and leading a legacy spanning over 58 years, providing life-changing, meaningful, and relevant experiences for youth and impacting communities worldwide.
As the organization embarks on our five-year strategic aspirations, we believe that the collaboration of our members, partners, supporters, and youth is way to success. Hence, the 2016-17 term will be focused on supporting the operations our local committees in order to keep them strong and healthy, providing reliable enablement capabilities to allow for our customers to easily access our programs and opportunities, and building a long-term partnership with government in order for AIESEC to further its reach and scale our impact.
There are a lot of things that need to be done for this to happen, but we know that through the hardwork of our membership, collaboration from our partners, and confidence from our supporters, we will be able to make the 2016-17 term a groundbreaking year towards our 2020 aspiration. Indeed, it is time for AIESEC in Canada to strive and be one in demanding excellence.
