With its traditional SUV configuration of four side doorsand a single rear luggage door, the armored SUV carriesa passenger complement of between five and eightpassengers.

Most armored SUVs can be armored to the CENEuropean B7 armor level.

Civilian armored vehicles are often required to defeat theblast of two German DM51 or two US M67 anti-personnelgrenades. Armets THIKA MINEPLATE easily defeats bothof these devices and was certified by the US military atTACOM on October 31, 2000 to defeat the M67 grenade.

THIKA MINEPLATE is installed in the floor of all of SUVsarmored by Armet.

Automobiles have obvious payload restrictions, butcan still be armored to defeat high level armoredpiercing rounds. Consideration must be given to theapplication or region where the vehicle may bedriven and the threat in that particular region. If the

threat is solely ballistics, then light weightcomposite armor may be used, but when there is athreat of side blast, consideration should be given

to the use of high hard steel armor.
