Mpumalanga Province in the South African S c h o o l s C h o r a l E i s t e d d f o d , N a t i o n a l Championships scheduled to take place from 29 June to 2 July at the Rhema Bible Church in Randburg, Johannesburg. Estralita School from Lydenburg is one of these choirs. These choirs displayed the highest standards in the three day spectacle by obtaining positions 01 in

different categories of choral music at the Provincial Championships held from 27 to 29 May 2016 at Graceland Hotel, Secunda, Govan Mbeki Local Municipality.It is with full confidence that the Mpumalanga Department of Education puts its trust and hopes in the performances of these schools and surely victory is certain after what was displayed at Provincial level. The Principal of Estralita School, Mrs Hanlie Swanepoel, said that the choir members work very hard to achieve their goals and that the whole school stands behind them for the national championships.

‘Blou Maandag’ na diewe kabels steelBooswigte het net-net gedink hulle gaan wegkom met gesteelde kabel wat Lydenburg se hele kragtoevoer lam gelê het Maandag. Hulle is toe aangekeer deur Sun Sekuriteit. Sien berig op bl. 1

DIE baie duur maar nodige DUMA Substasie sal teen ’n begrote koste van ongeveer R300 miljoen gebou word. Daar is ’n kontrak deur ’n Chinese maatskappy, Thaba Chweu Munisipaliteit en die Nasionale Tessourie aangegaan. Sowat R100 miljoen sal nog in die projek gestort word voor dit voltooi is, insluitend die ongeveer 40 megavolt transformer. Die

substasie sal langs die Roossenekalpad aangebring word. Daar is gerugte dat vyf groot dorpsbeplanningsprojekte tans in die pyplyn is... sodra meer elektrisiteit beskikbaar sal die projekte voortgaan. Vir die publiek en inwoners kan ’n nuwe substasie nie gou genoeg in werking tree nie.

DAAR is sekere goed waaroor mens nie mag praat nie. Dit het te doen met dinge soos opvoeding, agtergrond, lewensbeskouing, ouderdom en politieke korrektheid. In die ou dae het mens nie oor slaapkamerstories gepraat nie en ’n ongehude swanger dogter is weggesteek.Deesdae praat die jong geslag oor elke ding en die sielkundiges reken dit is goed vir ’n oop en gesonde samelewing. Ek dink hulle sit die pot mis (mag mens so sê?). As dit waar was sou die samelewing sekerlik

gesond wees. Maar dit is nie. Dit is tot in sy kern in siek.As jy konserwatief is of “ou skool” en hulle praat oor “gays” mag jy nie jou mening daaroor uitspreek nie, want dit is haatspraak. Of as ’n lid van enige ander bevolkingsgroep iets doen en jy mompel “tipies” is jy ’n rassis. Terwyl jy daagliks met hulle ryk kultuur te make kry en ook daar pelle het. Vra die vraag vir wie moet jy jou tiendes gee en jy ontketen ’n lekker warm debat. Praat oor ’n oorbevolkte wêreld en mense dink jy praat van katte wat kleintjies kry. Die konsep van sterlisasie en kastrasie by mense is heeltemaal taboe. Oorweeg die uitdunning van oorbevolkte olifante in die

willetuin en jy is van die bose. Jag, is jy mal? Jy is ’n wrede moordenaar! Die volgende taboe is visvang!Jy moet baie versigtig wees met wat jy sê. Jy moet “street savvy” hê. Jy moet jou geselskap meet en ken, of jy moet jou bek hou. Dronkpraatjies is uit. En dit is hoekom jong en ou mense so verbokkereerd is. Hulle is bang hulle word deur die sameling ge-ettiketeer of deur iemand verkla.Die Polisie mag nie meer hardhandig met kriminele werk nie, want hulle het regte. OBARU Lydenburg het Saterdag hulle Vadersdag promosiedag aangebied.Al die plaaslike bakkiehandelaars het hulle bakkies ten toon gestel en voornemende kopers kon ’n draai met hulle gaan ry. Daar was trekkers en kragopwekkers, gelukkige trekkings en baie ander dinge te sien, tesame met vleis wat gebraai is en heerlike potjiekos.

Obaru het ook hulle skoonmaakprojek geloods en oral in die gebied kon mense gesien word wat rommel optel en die omliggende gebied skoonmaak. Ander besighede word uitgenooi om by die projek aan te sluit.Andre Coetzee

Escarpment Birders in action at Mount Sheba

GOING into nature is one of the biggest priviledges bird watchers enjoy. A big group of locals are part of the affiliation of BirdLife South Africa.They recently enjoyed the nature at Mount Sheba (see photo) and have a lot of upcoming events tailor made for birding enthusiasts. The members are like-minded birders and conservationists serving the Mpumalanga Escarpment from Blyde River Canyon in the North to the Mpumalanga Lake District and Grasslands in the south.The club intends to cooperate with the owners of these properties: Ohrigstad Dam NR; Mt Sheba; Mt Anderson (north and south of the Klein Spekboom River inclusive of Mt Anderson Reserve, Finsbury, Highland Run, Natalshoop and Rivendell Lodge, Nooitgedacht Trout Potato Production Farm, Trout Kloof, Whisky Creek; Gustav Klingbiel NR; Paardeplaats Private Nature Retreat; Sterkspruit NR and Misty Mountain Lodge, to survey and thoroughly research our suggested Montane Highlands IBA area to confirm the presence of what preliminary investigations have revealed to be the presence of 8 Globally threatened; 8 Regionally threatened, and 14 Restricted Range bird species. That will enable them to motivate to BirdLife South Africa the recognition as this very special part of the escarpment as a new IBA.What are Important Bird and Biodiversity Areas (IBAs)?“The Important Bird and Biodiversity Areas (IBA) Programme is one of BirdLife International's most important conservation initiatives. boerewors and so treat the elderly with a fresh, hot boerewors roll, potato salad and refreshments (this after Jeanetta told them all that soup was on the menu). You can imagine the residents’ surprise and delight when

As far as concept cars go, many expected the Efijy to hit the Holden tomb, but not this interesting coupe.GM saw it fit to take the Efijy to the US, where it caused quite a stir at the

Die Ford handelsmerk het voortgeleef en in 1984 het hulle weer terug gekeer en hulle aandeel by Samcor teruggekoop. Ford Motormaatskappy SA was weer ’n volfiliaal van die Amerikaanse maatskappy.Op 1 Junie 1993 het Mnr. Garth McGee, ’n derde geslag McGee, die besigheid by sy pa oorgeneem. MOTIVATION is defined by the Merriam-Webster dictionary as “the act or process of giving someone a reason for doing something”. So do we really need motivation in order to work out? The answer is yes, unless one makes decisions and actions without a reason. Then why is it so easy to make excuses to avoid a workout?Most people find any excuse to avoid a workout. Either they're too tired from work, don't have time or have other things to do - such as buying groceries or spending time with family. However, there really shouldn't be any excuse when it comes to such a vital part of health. Exercise shouldn't be an option, it should be a priority for all of us, as it's essential to our wellbeing. As Dr. Gaby points out, exercise helps relieve the symptoms of “depression or anxiety issues as well as heart issues, diabetes” and more. While some people suffering from these issues raise the argument that they can simply take medication to better them, only taking medication doesn't get you to your prime health - yet combined with exercise, your health will improve exponentially. It's important not only to improve these health issues through exercise but to prevent them as well. If you find it easy to just make excuses whenever

it's gym time, consider altering your mindset. As opposed to looking at exercise as something you could do that day, make it something you have to do. Once it becomes part of your routine, it's a lot easier to follow through with. Brushing your teeth is something you do as part of your morning routine to get ready, it's not always an option in your mind - that's the way you should engrain exercise. This doesn't have to mean having a hectic workout at the gym every day, but rather incorporating it into your life where it suits you. This can be walking home from work (or part of the way), taking the stairs as opposed to the elevator, dancing around when you're cleaning the house or doing yoga in the morning before work to help prepare you for the day both emotionally and physically. If you find the gym is more of a commitment and better suited to you, find exercises and classes that you really enjoy doing. It's a lot easier to motivate yourself if it's for something you enjoy! Hop on a treadmill and incorporate the weights in your routine if you're comfortable with it. If you feel like you've hit a fitness plateau and aren't sure where to go from there, you can always ask a personal trainer to help you out! They'll be able to assess your body type, lifestyle and fitness level to see how you can change up your routine for maximum benefits! Motivation is key when it comes to working out; however, the key is getting your mindset right. Make your workout part of your daily routine as opposed to an optional extra and find a way you'll enjoy it most. Be it running outdoors or indoors, lifting weights or training at the gym with a partner to make it more fun. Exercise is vital to health and proves beneficial for both the body and mind!
