DAY 3: KAVALA/PHILIPPI, GREECECrowned by a Byzantine fortress, Kavala, the second-largest city in northern Greece, rests on an ascending slope along a palm-lined bay. DAY 4: KUS ADASI/EPHESUS, TURKEYKus adasi is a resort town that boasts spectacular beaches and acts as a jumping-off point to explore the legendary ruins of the city of Ephesus—an important archaeological site and a historic Christian pilgrimage destination. Here, visit the Library of Celsus and the Temple of Artemis.

DAY 5: ATHENS (PIRAEUS), GREECEWonder at the picturesque port of Piraeus and legendary Athens, one of the world’s oldest cities. Built around the ruins of the ancient temple, the Parthenon, Athens is set between its rich modern present and its astounding past.

DAY 6: KATAKOLON, GREECE In Katakolon, relax at a charming seaside café or browse the galleries and shops. Head inland to discover one of Greece’s most celebrated landmarks, ancient Olympia. This sanctuary of treasures includes the stadium where the Olympic Games commenced in 776 BC.

DAY 7: CRUISING THE ADRIATIC SEA

DAY 8: KOTOR, MONTENEGRO Beneath the limestone cliffs of Mt. Lovc en lies the secluded coastal city of Kotor. Settled during Roman times, this medieval, UNESCO-listed walled city showcases narrow streets, Venetian architecture, and the twelfth-century St. Tryphon Cathedral.

DAY 9: DUBROVNIK, CROATIAKnown as the “Pearl of the Adriatic,” this ancient walled city on the Dalmatian Coast retains its centuries-long allure. Dubrovnik’s pedestrian-only Old Town has historic churches and ancient sculptures as well as chic shops, attractive gardens, and snug cafés.

DAY 10: RAVENNA, ITALYCaptivating Ravenna, once the western capital of the Roman Empire, today is an off-the-beaten-path treasure � lled with Byzantine charm. Be sure to explore the city’s eight UNESCO-listed churches and mausoleums adorned with incredible early Christian mosaics and frescoes. Perhaps lounge on one of the city’s beaches or sip local wine on a sidewalk café.

DAY 11: VENICE, ITALYDiscover la bella vita—the good life—in the fairytale city of Venice. Take in graceful Venetian architecture and � ower-strewn canals in this timeless city of bridges, marble palaces, and charming old shops. Enjoy cuisine inspired by garden islands and lagoon aquaculture; the rich � avors showcase this city’s historic ties to the ancient spice route.
