Summary

Environmental Protection Technology & Equipment Show 2009 was held at Shanghai New International Expo Centre (SNIEC) from November 3 to 7, 2009. Environmental Protection Technology &Equipment Show had an exhibition space of 11,500 square meters. There were more than 301 exhibitors from 10 countries or regions attended this fair, of which Japan participated in as national pavilion with a show area of nearly 3000 square meters. Poland also participated in the show with the form of governmental organization for the first time. The overseas exhibitors area account for 44.4% of total exhibition area and the number of visitors of Environmental Protection Technology &Equipment Show 2009 is 39,597. Each national host ministries, Shanghai Municipal Government and Shanghai World Expo Group have been committed to constructing "China International Industry Fair - Environmental Protection Technology and Equipment Show" into the government platform to promote the innovation and development of environmental protection technology and equipment. To more widely apply the environmental protection technologies, equipments and solutions into automobile, petroleum, chemical, pharmaceutical, food, electricity, construction, electrical and mechanical engineering and electronics and other fields is the key to enhance the core competitiveness of China's manufacturing industry. China will also take the Shanghai World Expo as a good opportunity to further enhance the environmental awareness, any related work will be further expand subsequently. It’s believed in the coming years, as one professional show of CIIF, "Environmental Technology and Equipment Show" will assist CIIF in building "the 1st international brand exhibition" of Chinese equipment manufacturing category and taking firm steps towards this objective. During this fair, rich events provide enterprises with a broader platform for display. The 2nd Forum on “China International Energy Saving and Environmental Protection—Financial Crisis Heats The Low-Carbon Economy”, Sino-Japanese economic elite forum on “The progress of urbanization and the measure of environmental protection and energy saving - Regarding the possibility of Sino-Japanese trade cooperation on the reduction of environmental load and recycle of home appliances, electronic devices”, seminar on “Building a better water environment of World Expo”

and so on. These high-level meetings and forums offer manufactures from home and abroad more professional communication and exchange platform of trade cooperation and technological exchanges.

This exhibition covers the latest technologies and products of environmental field, including waste disposal and recycling technology, water treatment technology and equipment, new energy technology and equipment. The participation of well-known industrial enterprises (China Energy Conservation Investment Corporation, Shanghai Baosteel, SAIC Group, Huayi Group, etc), on-site launch of new technologies and products, on-site demonstration of advanced solutions have become the highlight of this exhibition.

As a grand industrial ceremony at the end of this year, this Environmental Protection Technology and Equipment Show (EPTES) had also been given the general concern from the media and professional peers. China Central TV, Shanghai TV, Liberation Daily, Wen Hui Daily and other 30 national mainstream media are all carried out a detailed report on the exhibition. Moreover, the professional media, such as HC Water Industry, Environmental Pollution and Control, China Water Industry Network, etc. had made detailed reports and comments on this show.

Exhibition Events There were more than 70 forums and seminars held during CIIF 2009. Among which, the 2nd Forum on “China International Energy Saving and Environmental Protection” was themed with “Financial Crisis Heats The Low-Carbon Economy” and carry out a series of thematic reports focused on the strategic direction of national low-carbon economy. Mr. Wan Gang, vice chairman of Chinese Peoples Political Consultative Conference and minister of National Science and Technology attended the forum and made reports. At the same time, Shanghai World Expo (Group) Co., Ltd. and Japan External Trade Organization co-hosted the forum on "The progress of urbanization and the measure of environmental protection and energy saving", which themed with "Regarding the possibility of Sino-Japanese trade cooperation on the reduction of environmental load and recycle of home appliances, electronic devices" to promote the friendship and cooperation between China and Japan.
