    HOW LOYAL ARE THE FANS?The poor rating in Hyderabad reflects the tumult thefranchise has faced in the last few seasons afterwinning in 2009. The Deccan Chargers are defunctnow while the Sunrisers, though most of the playershave been retained, are yet to show what they are

    capable off. Ahmedabad lends 65% support to theMS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings, Lucknow 60% toMumbai Indians (60%) and Ranchi 50% to the two-time champions (CSK).

    HOW THE TEAMRATINGS WEREDONEAmong the18-21 age group,Chennai SuperKings enjoyed thehighest overall rat-ing (788) while

    Mumbai Indiansreceived mostrating pointsamong those inthe 22-25 (791)and 26-35 (836)bracket. TheKolkata KnightRiders came inthird overall witha rating of 654.

    WHAT THE TRENDS SAYThe overall figures are from respon-

    dents in three age brackets (18-21, 22-25 and 26-35). In 13 towns, respon-dents intend to watch fewer gamesthan 2012 (15 to 11).

    THE BENEFITS OF THE LEAGUENurturing young talent scores high on the respondents,showing how much fans value mentoring qualities. Entertai-nment and cricketing qualities are rated next best.

    THE METHODOLOGYThe two-stage survey done in 14 towns nine Indian Premier League venues andLucknow, Ranchi, Ahmedabad, Indore andKochi, collected views from male cricketviewers on television aged 18-35.

    It first elicited viewing habits from 2350people. The detailed second phase involved940 respondents who had watched at leastsix Indian Premier League games in 2012.

    The positive attributes taken for teamratings were never-say-die attitude,reliability, entertainment value, emphasison nurturing talent, fair play, resource

    management, youth and energy, and victorychances in 2014.

    The ChennaiSuper Kingshave emergedthe mostpopular IPLteam amongthe cricketcrazy fans inIndia, across 14towns. Thetwo-time

    champions ledby MahendraSingh Dhoniwill have a lotof expectationsriding on themas they begin afresh campaignin the sixthedition of thelucrativefranchiseleague.
