Background Information

1993 First thermosyphon system;

1995 Support Himin and produce tubes mainly;

1997 Build Yangfang factory;

1998 Mass producing JB system; keep improving

structures of JB system;

2004 Design and start marketing JT system;

2005 Design and start marketing JBR and MT system.

natural convection phenomenon called “thermosyphon” for JB, JT, MT

Hot water rising and pulling down cold water

Volume per SL-I tube:1.25litres

One SL-I-1500 tube powers 7litres water;

Space between 2 tubes is 70 mm;

Inlet/outlet connections:1/2”

Diffuse plate reflector & CPC mirror (raw material, dust and efficiency);

Snow & wind cause problem---elimination of reflector

- JT start-up fast, advantage in partly cloudy day;

- cost: JB<JT

- JT has more heat gain under same irradiance day than JB;

JBR vs JB

- tube: JBR Ø58mm, 1.6m

- free of internal thermal shock;(supply cold water when tank runs out water in daytime)

- JBR anti-freezing;(JB tube might freeze during one week’s continuous snow)

- No drainage in event of tube breakage;

- fast start-up; (low capacity + low boiling point of heat transfer fluid inside heat pipe)

- Reflector;

- Cost: JB<JBR;

- JBR has slightly more heat gain under same irradiance day.

JB is going to be replaced by MT system at the end of 2005

MT:85L, 100L, 115L, 130L;

JB vs MT:

- Reflector;

- Inner tank;thickness and strengthen the inner cylinder（滚金）

- Cost: JB>MT;

- JB has more heat gain under same irradiance day than MT.

Served as reference only, different testing conditions (H, tA,Vwind) leads to different results even for one same system.

JBR vs JB: reflector factor


Part 6 Characteristics

Advantages:

- Simple structure, easy to install and operate.

- Cheap & effective;

- Good insulation;

- Free of over-heating problem;

- Possible for large system.

Disadvantages:

- Close-couple, visual image;

- Non pressurized;

- Cold water supply impossible when hot water is being used;

- Avoid cold water supply during daytime, esp. when tank gets no water(except for JBR);

- Drainage happens when one tube breaks (except for JBR);


Part 8 Large Project

In China, when a large project requires <50m2 aperture area collector, we use JB systems.
