• 8,500 prisoners in classrooms or vocational training.

• 11,000 prisoners working in prison industries (prison jobs provided by private sector employers or government departments).

▪ Committed to work with offenders in Wales since 2015, delivering CIAG support to these customers furthest away from the job market due to their offending and life circumstances.

▪ Through well-established referral processes within the prisons, offenders are made aware of Careers Wales services and have access to impartial 1-1 guidance to support them with the identification and development of their career management skills.

▪ Reducing the complexity of support, identification of barriers to work and streamlining access to employability support.

• Referral numbers continue to be consistently high with a strong demand for careers interviews.

▪ Careers Advisers work closely with all agencies within the prison to develop an excellent working knowledge of the support available to prisoners.

• Careers Wales attends all employment fairs, induction group-works, discharge board meetings and meet with prisoners throughout their sentence to plan their next steps in custody and access relevant training.

▪ 1546 offenders were supported by Careers Wales during 2018/2019 (839 initial interactions and 707 follow up interviews)

• 551 moving forward action plans and 51 CVs were completed with offenders within 3 months of their release

• 95 offenders accessed Careers Wales support following their release.

• In January Careers Wales offered work experience opportunities to 3 prisoners, as part of their resettlement programme at Prescoed prison, 2 of whom are now permanent members of staff.

When I joined BOSS over a year ago I had no

expectations, not knowing what I wanted to do.

I was referred to Wise project and attended this

every week for six months, I've never completed

anything.

During this time I applied for four jobs and was

successful am starting work with The Wallich
