Melissa said: “Since opening up in December it has re-ignited a whole new passion for providing quality, beautiful fresh
blooms and a friendly, helpful service”.
News from the Neighbourhood
A vibrant new shop on Mt Albert’s New North Rd has been a
welcome addition for residents in the area. The Little Flower
Shop opened its doors just before Christmas and is now agrowing business thanks to the support of the local
neighbourhood. Beautiful bouquets and brilliant coloured
blooms brighten up the pathway outside the little shop – giving
it an open and welcoming feel.
Owner Melissa Oakes, who’s been in the flower business for
nearly thirty years and has worked in some of London’s most
affluent areas, is delighted with the response from locals and
reckons she’s made the right decision to open up in Mt Albert.Check out The Little Flower Shop on 822 New North Rd, Mt Albert.

t was another great turn out for the annual
ADRE Easter Hunt on Sunday, 20th of March,s hundreds of children gathered on top of
Mt Albert in the hunt for chocolate treats.
A healthy sibling rivalry was evident at the
annual ADRE golf day recently with Anne &team finally winning the 2016 tournament
against her brother Kevin McDonald
Lawyer & Associates.
The Little Flower Shop follows in the footsteps of other new-comers in the area like Good Thing and Retro Addiction which
opened last year much to the delight of the locals. These quirky, independent shops go a long way in helping change the
landscape of Mt Albert’s High Street and offer locals something different right on their doorsteps.
“Having lived in the area for fifteen years it’s great to be part of a growing and vibrant community. With new shops opening
all the time and a supportive community behind us I definitely feel I’m here to stay,” Melissa said.
The ADRE team pipped the lawyers at the
post and took the coveted Mary McDonald
Cup away with them. The silverware sits
proudly on display in the office in all its
glory.
The Mary McDonald Cup was named in
honour of Anne’s mum Mary and has been
running within the family since 2009. Each
year a of team golfers take to the course atAkarana in Mt Roskill in a bid to win the
trophy. ADRE were the first team to win, but
a drought in recent years saw Kevin scoop
the prize and keep hold of the cup for
several years. Thankfully 2016 brought luck
for ADRE and we plan to hold onto it for as
long as possible.
ow in its fifth year this event has become
ery popular with the locals with more and
more signing up each year.
wet start to the day didn’t dampen the
pirits of the youngsters as scores of them
crambled in search of the hidden chocolate
cattered around the field.
he giant Easter bunny along with Tomtom
he Clown was a huge success with the
evellers and the queues for the photoooth proved it was a huge hit.
esh coffee was a welcome addition for the
arents as well as the complementary Hot
ross Buns that were on offer.
Easter Hunt Annual Golf Day ADRE Awards Night
