The function of the Dressing

• Control bleeding

The functions of Bandage

• To maintain direct pressure over a dressing to control bleeding

• To retain dressings and splints in position

• To prevent or reduce swelling

• To provide support for limb or joint

• To restrict movement

• To assist in lifting and carrying casualty (easy to transport)

• Narrow

Signs and symptoms indicate that a bandage is too tight • Blue tinge of the finger or toe nails

• Pallor of extremities 苍白• Tingling or loss of sensation (no feeling)

• Coldness of the extremities

• Inability to move the fingers or toes

• Arm sling

• Elevation sling (St. John sling)

• Hand bandage ---- Palm, fist

• Head bandage

• Foot bandage
