Phase Two of Petrolia’s Big Dig Petrolia Line Construction Project is set to begin on Monday, May 30, 2016. Phase two will ultimately see repairs and upgrades to infrastructure from the West side of Fletcher Street to the West side of Kerby Street on Petrolia Line.
Detours signs and fences will be visible starting Monday, and work by Henry Heyink Construction is set to begin immediately thereafter. The initial closure of Petrolia Line is from west of Fletcher Street to the east side of King Street. Work will continue through the summer and in to the fall.
Mayor McCharles said, “…now, more than ever, it is extremely important to shop in our Petrolia businesses, dine in our Petrolia restaurants, and support our neighbours.” Phase Two has a similar marketing approach as Phase One, and that is to take the detours and shop in Petrolia.
Notices have been delivered to business owners on Petrolia Line, and local print and radio advertising will reflect the detour information also. Residents and visitors are reminded to visit www.bigdigpetrolia.ca or to find Petrolia’s Big Dig on Facebook and Twitter for regular updates.

DON’T MISS KIDTASTIC SUNDAY!
The Town of Petrolia is pleased to announce a very special event that will take place on Sunday, July 3, 2016. The one-day event is being called KIDTASTIC SUNDAY and it will take place in Bridgeview Park,
Petrolia.
This free, family event will start with the annual Kids Fishing Derby from 8:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m., where children of all ages are welcome to participate in different categories to achieve the same goal: catch the largest fish! The
event is sponsored by CUPE and The Lambton Central Petrolia Optimist Club. Children are reminded to come with everything they might need to participate. Following the Kids Fishing Derby some very special guests will arrive to meet and greet the children. Marshall, Skye, and Chase – three members of the hugely popular PAW PATROL will be in the Park from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. The Lambton Central Petrolia Optimist Club Rubber Duck Race will take place at 11:00 a.m., and The Lambton Central Petrolia Optimist Club Fundraising BBQ will be available for breakfast and lunch.
That’s not all, the Marketing Team at Town Hall want to add a little fun to the Petrolia Line Road Construction Project, the “Big Dig”, so they have teamed up with Henry Heyink Construction to bring some
heavy equipment for display, and have a “Big Dig” planned that is just for kids! That’s right, a KIDS BIG DIG will take place at 1:00 p.m., children will be divided by age, and will dig for buried treasure in some big piles of dirt! There will be plenty of treasure to uncover, but only one child from
each category will take home the “golden ticket” for a family getaway to an Ontario waterpark and resort! The prize, sponsored in part by First Step Travel in Petrolia is bound to create some huge excitement!
Further information regarding KIDTASTIC SUNDAY will be available shortly, and in the meantime, make plans to spend a fun, free, family Sunday in Bridgeview Park!
