Printing: All computers are connected to highspeed black and white printers, and each student is allowed up to 350 sheets (700 pages, front and back) of printing per semester, included in student fees. The quotas are reset on the first day of each semester. There are also a number of computers equipped with highdefinition scanners available on a firstcome, firstserve basis.

How to print: 1. Log in to your student account on the computer.
a. If you don’t know your username and password, speak with the person at the front desk, and they can set one up for you.
2. Print whatever you want from your computer (make sure to click ‘accept.’ In some labs, the default printing is for front and back, but you can change that).
3. There are separate computers that release printing requests in each lab. a. Go to one of these computers.
b. Use your same login credentials. c. Select your print job and print.
Learning Resource Center The Learning Resources Center (LRC) is designed to promote student success, retention, and graduation in the academic setting. Services are available to all CU Denver undergraduate and graduate students and these services include study skills, tutoring, and time management. The LRC offers Tutorial Services, which are internationally certified by the College Reading and Learning Association's (CRLA) International Tutoring Program Certification. Tutorial Services Offered:
Scheduled Tutoring: Students may request tutoring for courses in which they are currently enrolled.
Open Lab Tutoring: Walkin sessions are available to all enrolled students. Supplemental Instruction (SI): A scheduled series of interactive and collaborative
weekly study sessions for students enrolled in historically challenging courses. Academic Development Workshops: Onehour workshops designed to help students
develop enhanced study skills to handle the challenges of college level coursework. Topics include time management, learning styles, note taking, testing, and test anxiety.

How to Shop and Register for Classes Online *Before you begin, be sure to check out the course catalog at www.Catalog.UCDenver.edu to learn more about schools, colleges, departments, graduation requirements, and other course information. Step 1: Log on to www.UCDenver.edu/UCDAccess with your User ID and Password.
Step 2: Once you have logged in, select the “Student Center” tab on the left hand side. Next, click on the “All Student Functions” tab that popsup.
Step 3: To search for classes, click the “Search for Classes” option on the left hand side of the popup window.

Step 4: In the new window, select “CU Denver” as your institution, “Spring 2015 UC Denver” as your term (or your desired term), “Denver Campus” as your campus, and enter the subject you’re looking for (in this case, “Communication”). Depending on if you want a lower/higher division class, choose your course career.
Step 5: If you want a more specific search, click “Additional Search Criteria” and you’ll find options to search for specific meeting times, meeting days of the week, location, among other options.

Step 6: Next, you are presented with your search results. Click on the different green arrows to learn more.
Step 7: Once you find a class that you want, click the “Select” button on the right hand side to add the class to your shopping cart. In this case, the student will be registering for COMM 1001001, ThTh 11am12:15pm. Step 8: Next you must confirm that you want to add this class to your shopping cart.

Step 9: Once you get the confirmation that your class has been added to your shopping cart, you can now search for more classes. Click “New Search” or “Modify Search” to continue searching for classes. Follow steps 49 to add another class to your shopping cart. Step 10: Once you’re ready to enroll, click the “Enroll” tab at the top of the popup page. Select “Spring 2015,” then click “Continue.” Step 11: Next, you must select the classes from your shopping cart that you want to enroll in. Click the “Proceed to Step 2 of 4” on the bottom of the popup page.

Career Center The Career Center helps students find jobs on and off campus. They provide many helpful workshops and advising sessions. They can help students apply for a job, improve and build a resume, help students declare the right major, and see what jobs relate to students’ majors. Career planning services include:
One Hour Career Counseling: Individual 30 or 50 minute sessions assisting in personal self exploration, direction with career changes, assistance in graduate school decisions, skill identification, and more.

StrengthsQuest: A 30 minute online assessment, in which students receive a customized report that lists their top 5 strengths. There is a $15 fee for this service, but there is no appointment necessary for interpretation.

They offer a variety of programs that encourage students to explore social, cultural, and environmental issues. Programs offered:
Lynx Alternative Breaks: Students travel to new communities to explore various issues and to serve with community organizations. These trips are led by students and many of the expenses are covered in the participation fees, including flights, transportation, food, and lodging.
Volunteering and Service Stop & Serve: Everyone has five minutes to give! Various service projects are
held on campus throughout the year to benefit a local community organization. Volunteer Fairs: Every Semester, over 60 community organizations come to
campus to share about their organizations and opportunities for students. These organizations represent numerous interest areas and are a great way for students to get involved and to build their leadership and gain experience.
Make a Difference Day: On the largest day of national community engagement, CU Denver serves with community organizations throughout the local Denver area to support them in their missions and to build community.
Lynx to the Community: National Volunteer Week is a time to celebrate CU Denver’s engagement in the community. This week includes a day to volunteer with local community organizations.
Lynx Day of Service: Lynx Day of Service is a day of volunteerism in the local Denver community for incoming firstyear students. These students engage in volunteer projects with fellow students, student leaders, faculty, staff, and alumni.
Dance Marathon (LynxAThon): Dance Marathon (DM) promotes the growth of community and relationships within CU Denver. DM has partnered with Children’s Hospital Colorado. DM fosters the continued interest in fighting childhood cancer and illnesses and values providing support for the children and their families served by the hospital and the community.
Food Pantry: The CU Denver Food Pantry provides access to nonperishable food and personal care items for CU Denver students in need. The pantry features a variety of

food items, including snacks, lunch items, and ingredients to cook a full meal. Some hygienic items are also available. To utilize the food pantry, students must present a current student ID Card. Students are allowed to take a limited number of items per week, available at no cost to the student. Item availability may vary from week to week. The Food Pantry is entirely supported by donations. If you would like to support the Food Pantry, you can donate items, donate financially to the gift fund, arrange a food drive, or volunteer for the Food Bank of the Rockies through the VIP Program.

Financial Aid Office The Financial Aid Office assists students with financial aid, scholarships, and student employment. Financial aid is available for eligible students to use toward paying educational costs while enrolled in a degreeseeking program. Using the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), students will be considered for three types of financial aid: grants, workstudy,

and student loans. Separate application forms are not required to be considered for these types of aid. Students must apply early and apply annually to be considered.
Needbased financial aid eligibility is determined by the FAFSA and the availability of funding. Students must qualify each year to receive needbased awards. Needbased awards include, grants, workstudy, the Federal Subsidized Direct Loan, and the Federal Perkins Loan. For the most part, a grant or giftaid does not need to be repaid. Students earn the workstudy award through oncampus or offcampus employment. A Subsidized Direct Loan means that the federal government subsidizes (pays) the interest while students are in school. The same goes for the Federal Perkins Loan. The Perkins Loan does not deduct an origination (processing) fee, unlike the Subsidized Direct Loan.
Follow the steps on the “DO” page to apply for financial aid, submit required forms, accept your awards, and complete loan requirements, should you choose to accept the loan award.
According to federal financial aid regulations, the total financial aid award cannot exceed the Cost of Attendance. The Financial Aid Summary in the UCD Access Portal is where students can view the Cost of Attendance.

ID Center The ID Center (Commuter Resource Center) provides information about programs and services available to the campus community related to commuting to campus, ID cards, RTD CollegePass Program, offcampus housing, getting around campus, and much more. A. Student I.D. Cards

B. RTD Passes
CollegePass Program The RTD CollegePass Smart Card allows students unlimited rides on the RTD bus and
light rail systems. Students must present a valid student ID in order to receive a pass. The CollegePass Program is included in student fees every semester if students are
registered for one or more credit hours on the Auraria Campus. Costs:
First CollegePass card is free Replacement card fee: $10 ($5 if you are transferring institutions–must present original

D. Lost and Found All lost and found items from Tivoli are held for six weeks at the ID Center. After that
point, unclaimed items are disposed of or donated.

Tips from Students We don’t plan to fail, but fail to plan. Treat college like a job and schedule classes from 9am to 5pm. Talk to your professors. Read the material before the lecture. Don’t Miss Class. Keep Balance; Hold to your Values. Make sure to do your homework. Have as much fun as possible. Go outside. Keep up with your dreams all through the semester. Be honest 100% of the time. It will pay off. Go to your professor’s office hours, even if you don’t need help! Make as many new friends as possible. Stay on your game when you’re in school. Keep a social life. Print out lecture slides prior to class and take notes on the margins. Nothing is worth sacrificing your sleep. Go to review sessions if you can for help.
