THE ROCK CYCLE
Science Review
Semester Final
•Convergent Boundary
•Oceanic and Continental plates colliding together
•Form volcanoes, mountains and ocean trenches. Ex. Himalayan Mountains
•Divergent Boundary
•Plates moving apart
•Forms Mid Ocean Ridge and Rift Valleys
•Transform Boundary
•Plates sliding past each other
•Example: San Andreas Fault, California
•Subduction Zone – Convergent Boundaries
•Plates colliding and the Oceanic Crust Sinking
•Forms Volcanoes and Mountains
You will need to know how to identify the Hardness of a Mineral using this scale.
Note: If a mineral can scratch the Common Object, it is harder than that object and all other minerals with a smaller scale number
Ex. Quartz scratches a glass plate. It is harder that the glass and all minerals below 7.
You will need to know how to read the pH scale.
What is more acidic? Coke or Vinegar?
What is the pH value of Baking Soda?
You will need to know the position of the Earth during the various seasons. When is it Winter, Summer, Spring or Autumn?
What organism would you find the least of?
What organism would be the most abundant source of energy?
If the rabbits were killed off, what would happen to the foxes?
These are examples of…
1. Igneous Rock
2. Sedimentary Rock
3. Metamorphic Rock
4. Round Rock

What land form does the process of subduction create? At what type of
boundary does this occur?

1. Volcano / Convergent2. Rift Valley / Divergent3. Mid Ocean Ridge / Convergent4. Hot Spot / Transform
You will need to be able to tell the difference between these two tides.
Know the position of the earth and the moon relative to the sun during Spring and Neap Tides.
